The bamboo on volume 2 calls to mind a soft dry breeze on a sunny afternoon. When I first heard it after listening to the crisp cool sounds of the metallic chimes on volume 1, the absence of lingering reverberations made the bamboo seem flat and dull, but on repeated listenings, the gentler rhythms and softer tones are every bit as soothing. I use vol. 2 for both daytime ambient sound and as a foil for the 4 a.m. frets.

I bought this trying to find a copy of a CD I had years ago that I couldn't recall the name of - I should have read the reviews. This almost is identical to the one I was looking for (rain with pan flute and harp) but the copy I had in the past didn't have all these screaming monkeys on it. Ruined the entire purchase for me immediately. I'll read more of the reviews in the future... This is NOT relaxing to me...

This CD, part of the Library of Congress' Endangered Music Project, is one of the greatest wolrd music CDs anyone could get their hands on. I strongly recommend this CD to anyone interested in the Native Americans of Latin America, or the traditional African-American music of that region. The music includes songs from the Garifuna ("Black Caribs" of Belize), Choco Indians of Panama and Colombia, Shipibo of Peru, Ashaninka of Peru, Aluku of French Guiana, Wayana of Suriname and Maroons of Jamaica. Quite a diversity of cultures, ranging from Native Americans to the free descendants of African slaves brought over by the colonists. However, all these cultures have similar, and yet distinctly different, musical stylings. Almost ... Read More:

When I was in 3rd grade my teacher used to play this tape in class while we did our work and I have just been attached to it ever since. The ambient music just puts your mind at ease while all your stress just melts away. It will leave you with a positive feeling.

The "Elements" series overall are a wonderful addition to your "feel good atmosphere" video collection. Each case comes with both an audio CD of music and an 1 hour DVD of video segments that match each song. Honestly, I don't really use the CD's, but the videos are beautiful. It is nicely set up with chapters, and the option of "playing through". Of course, some are better than others, and I have my favorite segments of each DVD. I have collected most of those still available (21 so far...), and my top favorites are "Reflections", "Majestic National Parks", "Earth Flight", and "Desert Light". Just watching about 5 minutes of any section of these videos has the wonderful effect of bringing me back to reality and putting whatever commotion ... Read More:
This is a CD of classical music with THE SOUNDS OF A LOON randomly mixed in with the music. There's nothing relaxing about it. Unless you consider laughter the best medicine. Because this CD is hilarious. And that's why I give it 5 stars. The sheer absurdity of Classical Loon makes it worthy of purchase. And it turns out that somewhere out there is a "Classical Loon II", as well as a "Jazz Loon". The mind boggles.
There's some sign that the makers of the CD knew how absurd the premise was, too. It starts with Debussy's "Clair De Lune". Haha. The next track is "Season of Love", and the loons make some very, ummm... interesting noises.

For lovers of Dan Gibson's music, Natural Concentration is another "A+" CD. Apparently the blend of the musical tones and the background nature sounds are designed to enhance concentration. I find it energizing, great music to have in the background as you work.
