The bamboo on volume 2 calls to mind a soft dry breeze on a sunny afternoon. When I first heard it after listening to the crisp cool sounds of the metallic chimes on volume 1, the absence of lingering reverberations made the bamboo seem flat and dull, but on repeated listenings, the gentler rhythms and softer tones are every bit as soothing. I use vol. 2 for both daytime ambient sound and as a foil for the 4 a.m. frets.

This CD surprised me when I first listened to it. It is among the most beautiful and peaceful music I have ever listened to. The song, "Dear Father", written by Neil Diamond for the movie, Johnathan Livingston Seagull, is my absolute favorite on the entire CD. All songs on this CD are beautiful and it is a very good value for the money. It's nice to be surprised by a CD now and then. This album is very soothing and is wonderful when you need to unwind and want to relax. Great to listen to before bedtime or as you are dropping off to sleep. I recommend this CD for all considering the fact that we live in very troubled times since the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the USA.

The album contains sounds of the river juxtaposed with original and adapted songs. One feels the mighty Mississippi through the music. There are blues, ragtime melodies done by fiddle, guitar, harmonica and piano: a bit of all the things one would expect from this river's fertile musical heritage.

I have found it to be one of my favorite albums, and am glad to see it is still available.

This is a beautiful CD. The sound of the waves in the background make the music very tranquil. A very enjoyable CD!
I am not the biggest fan of classical music, but this was one of the best classical CD's I have heard.

Possibly one of NASA's most avant-garde projects ever, SYMPHONIES OF THE PLANETS is a five-CD set that is now out of print. Put simply, it consists of recordings made by Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 as they passed by the various planets and moons of our solar system. Although sound as we perceive it cannot travel in the vacuum of space, each planet and moon emits its own electromagnetic "signature" that can be picked up by the right instruments, and those emanations can be converted into sound and recorded onto compact discs for your listening enjoyment.
