Debbie Davies has released many CDs over the years, but this one clearly stands out. Often these types of CDs, which involve a 'Who's Who' of contemporary blues artists, do not live up to expectations -- this one is definitely an exception. Put Davies together with Musselwhite, Benoit, and Montoya and sparks fly. Debbie wrote 4 of the 9 songs, while the rest are covers. The 'A.C. Strut' with Coco Montoya is a tribute to Debbie's mentor, Albert Colins, and it really rocks. Listen to Musselwhite on 'Movin' and Groovin' and you will soon understand why he is often referred to as "the Dean of Blues Harmonica" -- outstanding. Tab does a great rendition of Hooker's 'Crawling King Snake' with his Louisiana swamp style, as he is joined by Debbie. On ... Read More:

I went to see CC Adcock at Jazz Fest this year. Had a guy named Bramhall playing with him. CC was his usual mix of cool and grease but the songs were instantly catchy. Turns out Bramhall is sort of a legend. Turns out they are playing together because they just put together an album. Turns out the album is even more terrific than the Jazzfest set. Bramhall writes good hooks. The songs stay with you. Adcock keeps it raw."Cryin" is pure classic Swamp Pop.
CC Adcock is becoming the great collaborator. Robert Plant hung out with him in Lafayette (Louisiana, the Cajun capital)last year. Plant says "He's a piece of work - but I like him."

I first saw Walter Trout when he was playing with Coco Montoya in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. He blew my mind! This CD is full of smokin' red-hot guitar leads and is excellent all-around. I can't believe I waited several years to buy it! Well worth it!!

I'm 59 years old and somehow I missed Albert Collins and that I regret. I recently heard an Albert Collins song on KCUV, a Denver radio station and I couldn't believe my ears. I had to have some of his music. What a great blues guitarist and "Ice Pickin" is a superb CD. If you decide to get some Collins, get "Ice Pickin" for sure then get some more. You won't be disappointed.

This is an amazing album. Mostly instrumental, but a little bit of singing. Roy is absolutely amazing on the guitar. I found myself picturing him playing and watching his fingers. The music truly takes you away - and that's a good thing. I discovered him purely accidentally. There was one of his pieces on a sampling cd my daughter's boyfriend had given her. He, the boyfriend, is a musician. And let me tell you they know (or at least he does) good music. I think Roy Buchanan has moved me in a direction toward music I didn't know was out there.

This album has some really great contemporary electic blues played with rock and roll attitude and fire. The second disk features the same musicians (Uncle John Turner and Tommy Shannon) with Johnny's brother Edgar live at Albert Hall England, the performance is just incindiary...

I am not leaving a long detailed review for this album. I just wanted say that this is an amazing set. Johnny and Bob compliment Muddy so well. I love this album. I played it nonstop for like six months. If you love Muddy Waters, or are just a lover of the blues, you will absolutely love this album. Plus the remastered quality of this recording make it a joy to listen too. I dare you to try and not move your head and stomp your feet when have this disc in.

This was the first CD I heard from Slightly and was immediately taken by the melodic tones with a beat that I could catch on to. The music flowed harmoniously with the progression of the cd. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

I'm a young guy and just scratching the service on blues legends like R.L. Burnside. This is the first CD of his I've bought and I'm extremely happy that I purchased it.
R.L. has an absolutely perfect blues voice. His guitar playing along with Kenny Brown is incredible. The slide guitar is one of my favorite sounds on earth and they play it to perfection throughout the album.
My favorite songs are Shake Em' on Down, Rollin' and Tumblin', Goin' Down South, Skinny Women (which is covered by a great band named the The Black Keys they call their version "Busted"), and Bad Luck and Trouble. But my very favorite is Walkin' Blues. It's the total package. It's perfect in vocals, lyrics, emotion, slide guitar, and everything in between. I can't get enough ... Read More:
