Honestly, we bought this hoping it was the magic key that would unlock our household from a life of servitude to night pants.
Well, that didn't work.
The DVD is cute. Bear is kind. But nothing magical resulted from repeat viewings. In fact, our kids quickly grew tired of the DVD after the fifth or sixth viewing, so now it gathers dust and is soon to be a candidate for a garage sale table.

I have such a soft spot for musicals -- especially Disney musicals. The Little Mermaid is one of my very favorites -- most of the songs are so catchy I can't help but tap my foot and sing along. After a bad day there's nothing better than turning this puppy on full blast. Every song you remember is here, including the wonderful orchestral score.
The bonus songs are terrifying, however. Whoever thought that the Little Mermaid needed to be put to horrific, half-baked pop/r&b and shrieked by children of dubious talent should probably have large rocks thrown at them. Just a suggestion. However, I chose to ignore them, and I rate this disc by the value of the first disc, whose superior quality easily drowns out the second CD's ... Read More:

Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.
Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any ... Read More:

This dvd is pretty good. It's not as good as the Baby Mozart, but it's not bad either. My son will watch it, but I have to keep directing his attention back to it at times. The music is not as peppy as the Baby Mozart, but Baby Bach is still musical in nature-making it better than all of the other Baby Einstein dvd's we have with the exception of Baby Mozart.

I was 67 years old , when I began listening to these wonderful Disney songs. And when the last song ended, it seemed that I lost 50 years. I believe that this wonderful music brings back old wonderful memories that is like true magic. Alas my hair has now turned black , and all my wrinkles are now gone away. Also just chased my wife around Southern California. She told me to stop listening because she said she can't keep with me anymore. I owe it all to these 5 magical albums.

While I hate to admit it, my 8 month old is hooked on Baby Einstein. His favorites are Baby Shakespeare, Baby McDonald, Numbers Nursery, and Baby VanGogh--i.e., all the classical puppet format types. Baby Shakespeare has beautiful imagery and poetry, but also the fun puppets my little guy loves to see. I've researched the BE series thoroughly, and highly recommend these. While I am not crazy enough to think the videos will make my baby smarter, I do like that I know what he's seeing, I get a few minutes to shower, cook, etc, and most importantly, he loves them!

This wonderful Disney Classic is a must for any true collector. It is made in the style of Fantasia and my kids all love it.
