I don't know why this album is getting so popular, maybe because of the name Claude Challe on the front cover

I think the Challe brothers are drifting away from what made their success, the songs in Select 2008 doesn't inspire "magic"

When you listen to Nirvana Lounge, Sun, Je Nous Aime, Les Bains... you feel (and you know right away) the art of Mr Challe ...

but in this latest production (actually started with Spacesex prior), it is just putting out modern music, mixing some regular tunes (that you can find on another labels) or even boring melodies together (i listened to both albums several times, and still can't find harmony in the way songs are put together)

Man, I've been a fan of Jamiroquai since the first album, technically because I heard the first single from the second album first. Then, while at The Fugees concert waiting for Goodie Mob to start the show back in 1995 in Boulder, the theater was playing, "Emergency..." over the sound system. I was like who the hell is this singing?! It reminded me of some stuff old heads used to play when I was younger. Cool vibe to it, but couldn't pronounce the name. Well, the classics didn't stop there, evidentially, because High Times is one of the BEST best of collections made! In common with their last album THE MIRROR CONSPIRACY, we find French vocals over a sitar ("Un Simple Histoire") and samba stylings ("Meu Destino"). If like me you were slightly disappointed with 'Avant Que l'Ombre', then this album should make up for it.

I bought the Limited Edition (Digipak packaging) from Amazon France which has Amazon part no. ASIN: B001BSH10W as also listed on Amazon.com. This is the version made by Polydor (007531025) which has the 'Degenerations' video clip on the Enhanced CD.

Chakra Suite

This CD for me didn't quite make the cut for chakra healing in comparison to other sound therapy and chakra balancing CDs that I own.

Halpern is a well-respected artist in the field with many years of experience and I don't discredit that he has a feel for what he is doing, however, I am disappointed with the musical composition of Chakra Suite.

The music on this CD is similar to beginner and intermediate finger warm-up exercises for keyboarding, basically consisting of climbing up the musical scale and back down again.

The music is relaxing to a degree for me, but also becomes annoying with the climbing up and down on the keyboard. As many times as I have tried to get through a meditation with this CD, I have always ended up shutting it off ... Read More:

One day I was looking for some Synth pop (80's child) and I ran into this album on Amazon and I was hooked. I had never heard of the STG before, but now I will never forget them. Great blend of musical talent that has not been heard in a while. Thank You STG for saving us Synth-lovers. I cant wait for the new Album in Nov.

Review-wise, there's nothing I can add to what hasn't already been said. But I have a question. Aside from the fact this has been in production for almost 30 years, this is still a big seller, continues to come out in new versions and presentations, has been performed in public under numerous formats (I actually saw it done in the '80s at Hagar Planetarium in San Francisco) is considered by almost everyone who has heard it as something you Have to have, and recently has been turned into a live stage musical--why isn't this considered an "Amazon Essential Recording"?

Brian Eno was not necessarily the founder of ambient music. I am not an expert on early ambient music so I cannot cite any earlier artists except perhaps Tangerine Dream and Cluster, but by the time Brian Eno created his first ambient album, Discreet Music, music as atmosphere was an idea that had already been toyed around with in modern music.
