This is indeed a wonderful CD. The music is lively, fun, and novel. The songs are ones that can't help but bring a smile and laughs. The whole family really loves to hear this CD, we find our self's singing along, while my Grandson just dances and laughs and truely enjoys it.

I'll keep this short and to the point. This is another great Walkmen album. If you liked previous Walkmen albums you'll like this one (although I wasn't too mad on Pussy Cats). I find it takes about four listens to get into it, then the true depth of the record reveals itself. This isn't a record you'll throw away in a month or two, this is a record that persists. Enjoy - and as with many other Walkmen records, this one really shines on a proper stereo as opposed to headphones in traffic. Captivating...

I don't have kids of my own but I'm a teacher so I have a class full. The kids love it when I turn this on and songs like "First day of school" help remind me of the preciousness of my cargo. "Calling All Movers" and "Big" in particular get them excited about movement activities and brain gym work. It's an all around good buy.

We always play this cd during the evening routine, just right before the baby's falling asleep and he really likes it. The light tunes are really efficient for this purpose. It is a mixture of songs from the big classics like Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Debussy. Worth the money!

I first listened to this disc years ago. I have always liked the sound of this music and her voice. It is a great disc in my opinion. I cant really explain it completely but I just like this music. Thats all I have to say.

I bought this on the strength of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter being great favourites of mine for over 30 years, and I really like Joni Mitchell's "Hissing of Summer Lawns", from which this set takes it's best track (Edith and the Kingpin). Tina Turner is in superb form.
It is a very disappointing set. It's well played, but never sparks.
I cannot see how it deserves a 'Grammy' award.
I don't get the point of the Leonard Cohen monologue at all.
Get the Joni Mitchell album. It's far superior to this offering.

Some great tunes and interesting duets. Besides great listening, this has significant historical value. The opening duet with his daughter, the title cut with Keith Richards, the unreleased track with Tammy: very fine. Unfortunate he never sang with Keith Whitley, but this is a treasure of some great duets he has done.

Although radio - FM and satellite - continue to ignore him, Al Stewart keeps plugging away, pairing intelligent historically inspired lyrics with great folk-rock oriented musical craftsmanship backed by top notch musicians and production.
Sparks of Ancient Light (SOAL) does not disappoint in this respect. The songwriting is wonderful, and Al's voice sounds identical to the way it did back in 1978. Having seen Al in concert as recently as a few months ago, I can testify that this is not a trick of the recording studio.
The production of Sparks of Ancient Light is almost identical to A Beach Full of Shells (ABFOS)- which is not necessarily a bad thing, although I think if he were to do a third release with a similar sound production feel to it, he ... Read More:
