Along with "Hits I Missed and One I didn't", every time I listen to this 3 disc set in my vehicle it seems like the first time I've heard Jones' voice, hooking, mesmerizing...
For me George ranks right there with Tina Turner, "The Best", Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Rolling Stones "40 Licks", Dylan and Cash "Girl from the North Country", Clapton's "Layla", Big Head Todd "Bittersweet", Dylan and the Dead "Slow Train Comin", Kris Kristofferson "Me and Bobbie McGee" and "Sunday Mornin", Fleetwood Mac, Gordon Lightfoot's "Edmund Fitzgerald", Beach Boys, CSNY,CCR,Buffalo Springfield, Roy Orbison, The Band, Hapa's "He'Eia", Eagles, Motown, Jefferson Airplane.. all the music I listen to driving and running that just turns to dust ... The hymns are the "good old" ones that my family remembers. The Gatlin brothers are special. The harmony they have is just beautiful and they really show their deep faith in God through these songs.

I bought this CD for the title song. It is the same as in the movie "Rio Bravo" (my husband's favorite movie which we watch all the time). There is a strange intro by John Wayne but doesn't take away from the song, which seems to be cut off at the end just a few seconds too soon. I like several other selections, including the theme from "The Searchers". The others are OK with some that are strange. Why have Lorne Greene half/talk-half/sing the "Bonanza" theme? Just give me the real thing. The CD has songs you wouldn't find just anywhere and I like that. I really wanted the Dean Martin/Ricky Nelson title song and the CD was worth it to me.

This is a superior, sublime country/bluegrass gospel album, featuring bluegrass superstar Ricky Skaggs and his extended family, his wife Sharon White and her sister Cheryl, and father Buck White, who have recorded with him quite a bit over the years. The White Family have been recording great music for over three decades, but their own albums are mostly out of print and hard to find, so it's always a treat when Ricky Skaggs gives them a platform to show their lovely, old-fashioned family-based harmony style. It's a nice, nostalgic sound, recalling the early roots of country music from the 1920s, '30s and '40s, when this kind of open-hearted sincerity was still common.
