When Randy Travis blew into town, Country Music finally got off of it's knees and took it's place back at the front of the line. Thank God for Randy, Dwight, Patty, Marty, and George Strait. This album covers those Travis numbers that topped the charts, and when you listen to this CD, you'll soon realize why they reached number 1. Included here are "1982", "Look Heart", and "Diggin up Bones"...all great traditional country hits. But my personal Randy Travis favorite is his cover of Sonny James' "It's Just a Matter of Time". Many compared Randy to George Jones, and he did in fact carry forward some of Jones' syle; but there was no doubt that Randy was more influenced by Lefty Frizzel. This is a great album, well worth your money.

I just don't know how much better this group can get. I don't go more than a day or two without finding this disc in my truck, or unwinding with it after work on my iPod. That these boys were pretty much snubbed by the same ol' s*** thats become the IBMA should not detract from the fact that this is a truly magnificent offering and the best bluegrass IMHO that 2006 has to offer.

The Village Singers are excellent singers with great harmony, especially for the kind of songs they sing (Old Fashioned Gospel Harmony). Furthermore the instrumental accompaniement on these songs is absolutey awsome.

I expected to hear live Grammy performances from the last 50 years. Instead, all of the songs were the original recordings and all were from the same time period - the 1960's.

The recordings and the people in them are now saved for all of us to hear. An amazing job. I have been listening to folk music all of my life and this set is a most valuable addtion to my collection. THANKS TO THE PEOPLE WHO PUT THIS COLLECTION TOGETHER!!

Everytime DL & Q comes out with a new bluegrass gospel CD, I think it is the best, but yet again, Doyle fools us. The CD's get better and better. "Would You Mention My Name" is a favorite, "End of the Road, "Meet Me Yonder" are two other favorites. Pure mountain music is what you get. I have had the privledge of see Doyle on several occasions at bluegrass festivals. This is a must for your collection.

I honestly can't think of when I've heard a bluegrass band play with such empathy and virtuosity. Maybe the last time was more than a decade ago in Tucson, Arizona, but I know I haven't heard anything here in New York City that remotely comes close to The Del McCoury Band. Until last Saturday, when this wonderful band played a great set - which included celebrated banjo musician Bela Fleck on one number - at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium. Much of their set consisted of music from this CD and earlier releases from 2001, including a great cover version of a song written by legendary British folk rocker Richard Thompson. Del has a great tenor voice and is a fine guitarist too. But maybe more importantly, his superb musical talents also run in the family, ... Read More:

I don't understand why these three CDs didn't have the Life Cd included in the set. But I love all of Johnny's music. Haven't heard a bad one yet and I hav A LOT of Johnny, June, the Highwaymen and I'm currently building on my Rosanne collection. She's the one who inhereted "the gift".
