The fans of Johnny Cash that have not picked up this CD are really missing the boat. No it didn't get the hype that the Volume 1 got for sure, but it is equally amazing if not better. Tracks like That Old Wheel jump out as VINTAGE Cash. Also the pain and beauty of the Rick Rubin productions just shine on this CD.
Even if you arent a Cash fan...I can't imagine not 'getting' what this CD is saying...it is brilliant!

I fell in love with The Isaacs at a Gaither concert--after all, they were the only ones both singing AND playing their own acoustic stuff. Awesome. With "Big Sky" they cross over from southern gospel/bluegrass to a very contemporary country sound but with enough "twangyness" to make me love it. The overall sound--vocals, instruments, production--is very, very polished. I was pleasantly surprised to find Becky and Ben also singing lead and they sounded great. Wow. (Previously, of the three siblings, I only thought Sonya did lead. She's extraordinary.) The only failing I find with this recording is a lack of any real spiritual depth in the lyrics. The Fisrt cd is alot better than this one, but this one is still okay. I only Liked one song on this disc and it is. Track 4. Will The Circle Be Unbroken/I'll Fly Away/ Jesus Loves Me. Don't get me wrong the music is beautiful, but i think the first one is alot better.

wonderful old music. brought back many great memories. many words we should all think of everyday. People today have lost their love of one another. We need to get back the old standards or how we treat out neighbors. We have the 33 rpm record and now enjoy having the CD to play while traveling.

I do not yet have this collection. I have many of the pieces on previous compilations but just reviewing the song list gives me goose bumps. There is a ton of great material here, the Stanley Brothers are essential to any bluegrass or folk collections. There is a song Jacob's Vision, that I had on one of those bargain bin cassettes you see in truck stops. One of the most moving songs ever recorded. Looked for it for years after the tape broke and here it is on CD. Listened to a sample of that and it is the same song I have looked for quite a while. Buy this set now, you will not regret it for a moment.
