I LOVE George Jones. To me, he is the voice of country. George Jones and Hank and Patsy and Ray Price -- that's the real thang. That said, George is well past his prime. He's not, sadly, the Lion in Winter that Ray Price has been. His recent stuff has been better than most anything else on country radio, but hardly up to his earlier works. I saw George from the second row in 2006, and it was a thrill, but you could tell he was mailing it in. So I did not expect to get any NEW wonderful stuff from Jones. I listened to this album before I learned of its story, and I was shocked that George had cranked it up one more time! Now I know that some of this dates back to 1977, and that explains the quality. A brilliant album which takes the Dixie Chicks in a slightly new direction musically, appealing not just to Country fans but across the whole spectrum.
All the fans will have a copy already but for anybody new to the band I would just say don't hesitate-this is sensational!
"Not Ready To Make Nice", especially if you know the history,must be one of the most powerful and evocative anthems of the last 30 years, up there with the likes of "Bat Out Of Hell" and "Total Eclipse Of The Heart".
This album marks the Chicks' first serious attempt at songwriting. If they can maintain the standard of "Not Ready..." it would put them on the level of the legendary Jim Steinman.

the problem with most country music( and i use that term very loosely) is that it usually sounds like half-baked/pale imitations of lynyrd skynyrd or the eagles.jon bon jovi made a cooment once about how easily most country music sounds like his band. he's not far off. listen to ms. hough and you'll notice too many pop music references.while i admire her work on dancing with the stars( she makes dancing look so damn easy) she cannot do it all.skip this and buy the new one from emmylou harris or patti loveless. tha t's real country, baby!!

As with their previous work, Rascal Flatts' "Still Feels Good" album is filled with great country songs, such as "Winner At a Losing Game," "Every Day," "Take Me There" and the title track. Unfortunately, the album is ruined by what is probably the worst song in history. "Bob That Head" is utterly unlistenable. It is probably one of 4 songs--in any genre--that make me scream and run for the radio dial to change stations when it comes on. It's stupid, pointless, and gross if you choose to think about an alternate meaning of it (I won't put it into words here--if you get what I mean you will understand).
