Most playable CD I ever purchased. If there is a IR II, just send it. I hope it has Jamie Johnson and James Otto on it. If you are reading this review and can't afford to buy a copy, steal one!

I've been a Rilo Kiley fan since 2003, and like someone else had said, I wanted to like this album. I really did. I thought Rabbit Fur Coat was pretty good, but this was a real disappointment. There are a lot of hipster kids who will say that this album is genius, and I really question whether they would listen to something like this if it wasn't Jenny Lewis. I'm leaning more towards no, they wouldn't. I saw her a few times on her 2006 solo tour, and "Carpetbaggers" and "Acid Tongue" were fantastic, but the studio versions disappointed me. Elvis Costello sounds out of place on "Carpetbaggers" and the backing/chorus vocals on "Acid Tongue" stick out too much and take away from what would otherwise be a flawless song. "Jack Killed Mom" is okay, ... Read More:

This the real deal when it comes to Country music, not that watered down pop music that passes for country these days. Not only is this the real deal, but it's actually really good stuff. No one out there probably hates country as much as I do, but this stuff is great. Now, I say hate, but that's not totally true, I have a deep respect for some of the greats out there such as Johnny Cash, & this one really reminded of some of his stuff. The other album this one really reminded me of is the "O Brother Where Arte Thou" (did I spell that right?) soundtrack. Not only is the music great, it brings together some of the greats in music today, along with other more unexpected artists such as Jack Black. In closing, I'd suggest pretty much anyone ... This CD was more than I could have imagined. I loved his voice with Hootie and the Blowfish, but this is a wonderful addition to the country genre!

It's fantastic. I orginially had this recording years ago on a 33rpm record, and like a fool got rid of it. I got it as a replacement on a CD format and its the way I always remembered it.

This is a geat albumn. Does tend to be on the sad side as far as song content. Emmylou does a wonderful rendition of Merle Haggard's Kern River. Overall, I am enjoying the music and, as always, Emmylou's voice reaches to my soul.

I hate to say it.. I really admire both Ms Baez and Steve Earle, but this CD sounds just awful. It's not the songs or Joans voice, it's the production values. It sounds like it was recorded by a middle-school audio club. The bass is especially bad. Go figure. Maybe they were going for that sound, if so, they got it. Really bad.

This is a great Holiday album. Put it on and you will want to start baking the cookies. Hill is a great solid singer who knows the right music to show off her voice.
