I bought this CD because of all the rave reviews I read about it. The other people must have been a bit more earthy-crunchy than I am. I found all the wind instruments a bit boring. I think I like to hear a little more piano or something... I love the baby Mozart CD but I thought my baby needed a change every once in a while. Thats why I bought this one. It's ok....

Having listened to EG for years and years and also seen her live more than once, I found this album to be her most poignant and conscious to date. With intelligence and passion, she is writing songs here which combine to decry the state of the world, not simplistically but with complex and thoughtful lyrics, yet also to endorse some small hope. The lyrics coupled with the very somber and gorgeous accompaniments really brought me to tears at times. She also really gets the difficulties of women in the world today, yet does not press. I was intrigued also by her echoes of old fifties tunes and lyrics which she has revised ironically for our times with very different and much more sobering takes. I was moved to tears at times and have never ... Read More:

I'm actually relieved that "how do i make you" was left off this album. that was a song that i always fast forwarded through...probably the worst song she ever recorded. (simply obnoxious to my ears and a waste of her voice).
i had this album many years, and listen to it every once in a while...i just came here to get a replacement because mine got scratched.
i always wondered why she recorded it...recently i read an interview with linda and she said she never really felt comfortable in the rock genre, and loves exploring other styles.

This album is alright if you like sad, lame, third-grader lyrics which -- to Ms. Griffin's marketing credit -- was a great way to go, apparently. After all, everybody loves a deadly-sad song that relates to how they've been so terribly wronged, whether by their lover, their parents, or life in general. Isn't that right? I liked that stuff in college. Then, I grew up. When I listen to this album, I want to shoot myself! It's SOOOOO depressing! Then there's the topic of Ms. Griffin's purported musical and lyrical genius... Please! How many times can you rhyme the words "tragic" and "magic" in any two tunes before someone notices you keep using the same lyrics over and over again?
Most of the "gems" on this album should have been left to wither ... Read More:

In reviewing Bob Dylan's 1965 classic album Bringing All Back Home (you know, the one where he went electric) I noted that it seemed hard to believe now that both as to the performer as well as to what was being attempted that anyone would take umbrage at a performer using an electric guitar to tell a folk story (or any story for that matter). I further pointed out that it is not necessary to go into all the details of what or what did not happen with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 to know that one should be glad, glad as hell, that Bob Dylan continued to listen to his own drummer and carry on a career based on electronic music.
Others have, endlessly, gone on about Bob Dylan's role as the voice of his generation (and mine), his lyrics ... Read More:

In 1971, (i was 12) I asked my mom and dad if I could stay up and watch this cartoon on the ABC movie of the week. They read about in their TV Guide and agreed quickly.
Listening to Dustin Hoffman narrate this story of a round headed boy named Obllo living in the land of Point, I was amazed. This little cartoon had a great story and wonderful music which captured my attention.
For weeks after I saw this TV movie, I hummed and sung most of the score. I assumed my mom, dad and younger brother were sick of hearing my voice singing "Me and My Arrow". So a few weeks after I saw the movie, I got an LP of this film (The same one as this CD). Under Harry Nilsson's narration, the soundtrack was just as wonderful as the TV movie was.

Bob Dylan is a man who jumps in feet first without looking back and that's just what he did with this record. Up till now, he'd been a reader of the Bible, drawing references from it for his songs, but someone tossed a silver cross onto the stage when he was playing in Montreal, he picked it up, kept it and later in Arizona he experienced something, who knows what, it was personal, but it made him believe and this record is the result.
This record, like Blood on the Tracks, is a deeply personal record. During the "Blood" sessions Dylan was going through the pain of separation, during the "Slow Train Sessions" he's a man more sure of himself, secure in his belief. But if you've followed Bob Dylan at all, then you know he's always worn his heart on his sleeve. He delivers ... Read More:

"Have I Told You Lately That I Loved You?" Van Morrison asked the question before Rod Stewart did, and it's good to hear him asking it again with all the Saints who asked it before him.

During a recent visit, my three year-old granddaughter asked me what my record player was. I took her to my collection of 331/3 LPs and selected Peter, Paul and Mommy - the 1969 vinyl edition. "Oh,Grannie," she said, "a big DVD!" She loved "Momma's Taking Me to The Zoo Tomorrow" and "Puff the Magic Dragon." I had forgotten all the great songs that were on this album.,,,hadn't played it for years. We really enjoyed it together. So I purchased this CD just for her...she lives in the UK...and I'm always looking for good ways to keep in touch.
