A couple of good songs, but all in all a bit too squared off. Not much imagination, roots music doesn't have to be so dry. I was drawn to her by her appearance at the Gram Parson Tribute concert. When she has great songs to sing she is really fine.

My mother had been looking a particular song for my father. She mentioned it to me in a call prior to Father's Day this year. I told her to just give me a second and I found it on Amazon.com quickly and easily. She said that my father loves it and listens to it every time they get in the truck. Thanks...

I've read some very well thought out and critical comments for other albums on here that speak of the artists talents, shortcomings, etc. This isn't one of those, mine is all about emotion. Listening to this album is almost a rapturous experience for me. This music, the voice, the lyrics...they reach so very deep into me and stir otherwise sleeping feelings of love, desire, fear, loss and the unique pleasure of merciful solitude.

Ever since David Archuleta mentioned her name on The View I have been enjoying this angel's songs. She had such a beautiful voice and was really just beginning to realize her talent when she passed from her earthly body. I now own 5 of her CDs and my favorite songs include True Colors, I Know You By Heart, Time Is a Healer, and How Can I Keep From Singing. The quality on most of the albums is very good and it amazes me that some of the recordings were completed after her death using rough recordings and making them so beautiful. Thank You David for introducing me to Eva.

Having listened to EG for years and years and also seen her live more than once, I found this album to be her most poignant and conscious to date. With intelligence and passion, she is writing songs here which combine to decry the state of the world, not simplistically but with complex and thoughtful lyrics, yet also to endorse some small hope. The lyrics coupled with the very somber and gorgeous accompaniments really brought me to tears at times. She also really gets the difficulties of women in the world today, yet does not press. I was intrigued also by her echoes of old fifties tunes and lyrics which she has revised ironically for our times with very different and much more sobering takes. I was moved to tears at times and have never written ... Read More:

No Guru, No Method, No Teacher is probably Van's best effort of the 1980's and easily his best album since 'Into the Music' in 1979. As far as the bonus tracks go, "Lonely at the Top" is a great song and would have fit on the album nicely. The alternative version of "Oh the Warm Feeling" is nice, though hardly essential. This is a personal favorite of mine and one of Van's greatest triumphs. A must have!!!

During a recent visit, my three year-old granddaughter asked me what my record player was. I took her to my collection of 331/3 LPs and selected Peter, Paul and Mommy - the 1969 vinyl edition. "Oh,Grannie," she said, "a big DVD!" She loved "Momma's Taking Me to The Zoo Tomorrow" and "Puff the Magic Dragon." I had forgotten all the great songs that were on this album.,,,hadn't played it for years. We really enjoyed it together. So I purchased this CD just for her...she lives in the UK...and I'm always looking for good ways to keep in touch.

Desire came out twelve days shy of a year after "Blood on the Tracks," but it wasn't a whole year without a new Dylan record, because The Basement Tapes came between them, though it was recorded something like eight years earlier. "Desire" is sort of new sound for Dylan as he is performing with the Rolling Thunder Review band and Scarlett Rivera's violin adds a haunting sound throughout.
"Hurricane" the lead off song marks kind of a return of Dylan to social commentary. Dylan did the song, because he was convinced of Mr. Carter's innocence. The song was first recorded with Emmylou Harris doing the vocal with Dylan, like she does on the other songs on the record, but apparently Colombia thought the song was libelous, so Dylan re-recorded it with Ronnie ...
