I ordered the Tracy Chapman Collection album. I was so excited when my order arrived. However, as soon as I played it my excitment died. The whole CD is full of static. I thought perhaps it was my CD player so I tried it on a couple different ones all with the same result. I had seen this mentioned in some other reviews and had hoped the problem would have been corrected by the time I made my purchase. Wrong. I'm sure Ms. Chapman would be upset to know that the reputation she has for the caliber of work she puts out has been sullied by this shoddy product.
And Amazon: you should be ashamed.

Like most of his other live work "Before the Flood" lacks the light and shade of the studio albums - everything is at one volume (loud) and flatly sung. The performances of The Band, however, are excellent and give this album the lift it needs. If you want to hear a better Dylan live album then you might want consider "Hard Rain", which came out a few years later.

If you needed any proof other than Blood on the Tracks that Bob was going through a semi-artistic revival during 1975, this album should be your evidence. I wasn't around in 1975, but if I was, I would've definitely caught one of these shows, because this is an awesome album. Even with a few snippets everyone could do without (a reggae-country version of "It Ain't Me Babe," a synthtastic "Just Like a Woman," a sappy "Mama, You've Been on My Mind" and an even sappier "The Water is Wide"), it's still really, really good. In fact, it's my pick for Bob's best live album. It totally rocks, maybe even harder than the electric half of Live 1966 did. And he sounds angrier than he ever has. I recently saw Arlo Guthrie in concert and when he did Alice's Restaurant, I came away slightly disappointed and determined to find the original. This one is it! Arlo himself even rushes through the song he's been stuck singing all these years. My ears remember the pauses and things that made this such a delight to begin with! The ONLY ONE to own!

Excellent! Love it and have loved it since the mid eighties when I was introduced to it by these two gorgeous roomates I had from California while I was living on Mackinac Island Mich. They listened to it over and over again and apologized and I said, "Don't! I love it." and I've listened to it a million times since and introduced it to many people. Whole damn thing is great.

I love Harry Chapin and this is a great album, but be warned that this CD version is not the full album. It's missing two cuts: Love is Just Another Word, and She is Always Seventeen. I bought this to replace a cassette tape I have had forever and noticed that the number of tracks didn't match. Then I noticed a disclaimer in very small print that these two songs weren't included "due to time restrictions." Personally, I think this is a bit of a ripoff. To make matters even worse, neither of those songs is available as an MP3 download.
