Vol. 3 completes the Cellarful trilogy: songs that were either too aggressive to be promoted then, or else too beautiful. While songs on Vols. 1 and 2 might seem more immediate hits, Vol. 3 has stellar embryonics.

If you've got most of these, then keep what you've got. I ordered for the 12' on Brickhouse. But, it doesn't really add anything really special to the mix. If you don't have most of these, then it is worth it.

Seems like for the better part of the 1990s soundtracks were "the" in thing in music.

This was another one.

If you like any of the following in a great soundtrack, cop this one:
1) Music put on the LP that you actually recognize from the original motion picture.
2) A hot mix of contemporary, popular artists consistent with the time of the movie's release.
3) A nice number of contributions from budding, unhyped new artists that actually help make the soundtrack complete.
4) An overall musical selection that fits the tone of the movie.

Thin Line was a classic movie released my freshman year of college (1996) and every time I listen to this soundtrack it takes me back to that time.

In recent years a lot of DJs have been going through their bins, dusting off the rarest of the rare vinyl they can find and releasing funk to a funk crazed listening public... one at present more than willing and able to go beyond the standard fare of James Brown, P-Funk and Kool and the Gang albums found at most stores... Much to my delight almost none of these albums fall short of their claims of funkyness... in fact, most go beyond expectation... MIDWEST FUNK: Funk 45's from Tornado Alley is the latest ditty added to my own bin, and I must say, one of the best to date... (I read one review calling it the funkiest album of all time... I'd say that after giving a listen the arguement is pretty strong in its favor!)

Having been born and raised in Columbus during the 60's and 70's all I can say is that I'm flabbergasted. This music creates a visceral sensation that takes me back to the day when Bill Moss (The man with the red hot sauce) along with motivational speaker Les Brown (The man about town) were the voices of WVKO radio. Now living in Los Angeles after thirty years I thought I would never hear the sounds of "Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr" or "Elijah & the Ebonies" again. I feel like I'm crusin' down old Mt. Vernon Avenue again! Great CD.
