Just finished listening to 1968. 6 discs , 144 songs , 6 hours , 47 minutes and 28 seconds. We are now at 43 discs , 1,106 songs , over 50 hours for volumes 1-8 , with four more to go. If you've read the other reviews , you know how impressed I am with this whole series. EVERY Motown single (A & B side), from each year 1959-1972 (the Detroit years), being released in 12 lovingly-assembled cd box sets, to be completed by 2009 (the 50th anniversary of Motown). You'll hear old faves as well as things you never heard before....but be forewarned , once you hear one set , you will want to hear it all. 1968 is a great place to start.Go ahead, PUT THIS IN YOUR CART!!!

Every song is a deja vu experience and bangin' by himself! loopdiggaz like dj premier, marley marl, rza and thousands of other beatproducers can't be wrong. so dig this!

The selections in this compilation are a must for serious Freestyle fans. The songs range in years from '86-'88. There are a couple of downsides to this CD though. Some of the selections have been edited. The two selections I notice the most since I have them on 12" single are "January/February" by Tina B., the song is faded off at the end very quickly, and "Out of Control" by Corina has the beginning piano solo edited. The other note with all of the "Freestyle:Greatest Beats" CDs is that they have been mastered from 12" singles like SPG Music's "Freestyle's Greatest Hits" vols 1-4. I like this CD because I get a very good classic soul mix, and I get to save a few dollars from not having to purchase a box set or anthology mix for the tunes I want to hear. For example, this is one of the few CDs that has that Jerry Butler/Brenda Lee cut "Ain't Understanding Mellow?" (a 'blue lights in the basement' track around here) that ain't in some [price] greatest hits compilation. I get The Commodores "Sweet Love" and Luther Ingram's classic "(If Loving You is Wrong) I don't Want to Be Right" on one CD. And I get the Ahhh-hah! without chasing down the right time they play certain of these jams on the classic R and Bee radio station here.
