Spanning the realms of Girlie-Goth (Switchblade Symphony), Classic Goth (Christian Death), Infectious Dance Grooves (Birmingham 6) and even some surprisingly catchy covers (a la Shiny Housewife) this disc offers up so much more than the track listing promises! It blends together like a radio show spinning wildly into an insane oblivion so there is never any "down time". For those who want to experiment with the catchier sides of spookie-alternative, this CD is a great start. For long-time fans of the sound this CD will prove to you over and over again just why you love the sound!

Yngwie has given us some great tunes over the years and a few good quotes as well. Alas most of the bands on this disc are unlikely to do the same.
Most of the tunes just wander aimlessly and really and fail in the two most important areas of tribute albums. Firstly they don't allow you to get a different take on the Yngwie stuff and secondly your not inspired to get your hands on stuff by the band doing the cover tune. Some of the bands sound like they may be alright, perhaps they are just on the wrong tribute CD.
My personal exception to this is the Chris Amott version of Big Foot, which is track 1. That did make me want to check out some more of what that guy has done.

this cd rocks!!!! its so awesome, these awesome bands really know to make old classics new!!! one comment, why would anyone look at tributes to have them sound exaclty like metallica ( as said in past review) and plus, the "Ride the Lightning" i think sounds a lot like it in the first place

Metllica is and always will be the kings of metal, and for the most part this CD is worthy of wearing the Metallica name. First off, I must say that some of these cover versions just plain sucked! I won't mention specifics, but the true Metallica fan will find them with ease. However, there is enough good material here to warrant buying the disc. Most noteworthy are the covers of Whiplash, Fight Fire With Fire, and Damage, Inc. The band FIST, who covered Damage, Inc., actually used to play shows with my old band in Indianapolis, so I'm partial to that one. Overall this disc is worth picking up, especially for the die-hard Metallicatz.

After a couple of tributes to Mercyful Fate, his legendary band from the early 80's, this homage to the King was long overdue. Novice artists at their best. Particularly enjoyable is the Welcome Home version by Prototype. Church Of The Devil is a must for any real metal fan.

most live cds are not great quality, especially one from 2000. however the first song is about as far as you need to go to know it will raise the hair on your body!! slipknot hammers out the best performance and gets the crowd killin! Slayer was even good and i have always considered them WAAAAY overhyped through the years. sevendust and nothingface do a great job of stealing the show as well.
however....one question.........what the hell was nashville pussy doing on this? molly hatchet wannabe. garth brooks would have been a better country act! horrible!!
overall...buy this baby. it will fire you up!!

As a fan of "opera metal" or "symphonic metal," I was pleased to find this compilation. It's got a great mix of lovely voices and just plain dirty metal.
Lacuna Coil's "Unspoken" edges into a more mainstream sound, although Cristina Scabbia's vocals are gorgeous as always. "Leader of the Rats" by Arch Enemy is screamed with an almost grating vocal, but I love the driving guitar riffs.
There are several covers on this CD, but I find them to be the least interesting cuts on the album. The Warmen's cover of Heart's "Alone" lacks the passion of the original, and Novembre's Kate Bush cover, "Cloudbursting" is downright boring, with uninspiring vocals.
My favorite track on this CD is "Razorbliss" by Flowing Tears. Helen ... Read More:
