Collectors will tell you about fantastic local acts such as the Shadows of Knight (of "Oh Yeah" fame), the Lemon Drops, and the New Colony Six, as well as the all-important influence of the city's astounding blues output (Chicago was the home of postwar electric blues, thanks to such local luminaries as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and the legendary Chess Records label). This is great stuff. I'd give it 5 stars but I usually reserve them for alltime classic albums. Since this is not really original music I gotta go one star less. This is the second best tribute set; second only to Century Media's Priest Tribute. Anyway, a great tribute to a great band. Scads of great covers, a few duds, and the highlight - which was a shocker to me was Sodom's cover of "I'm A Rebel". I can't stop playing this tune. It's lead me to a whole new obsession with Sodom and Onkel Tom's solo stuff. Back to the review at hand. It's great, if you're an Accept fan get it. The second CD in this series is good. Not as good as this one but pretty much required. And if you're a fan of some of the bands that appear here go ahead ... Read More:

This is great stuff. I'd give it 5 stars but I usually reserve them for alltime classic albums. Since this is not really original music I gotta go one star less. This is a compilation album put out by Deadline Records. The cd contains numerous hits from bands dating back to the 80's and early 90's. The only trouble is that pretty much all of these hits are live or rerecorded versions. While you wouldn't know this from looking at the cd, most rock fans who follow these bands closely are well aware that these are not the original versions. Deadline specializes in new studio versions or live music. They are also notorious for repackaging the same material into several different releases. The casual fan, however, won't know until popping this in.
