I have the first CD in this series, Heigh Ho Mozart, which I think is the better of the two. While listening to this CD, had I not known the songs were supposed to be Disney tunes, I believe I would think I was just listening to another classical music CD.

Some of the songs are a bit recognizeable if you listen very, very carefully. Others almost completely obliterate the Disney part of the song save for a note or two. For example, the Ballad of Davy Crockett sounds nothing like the original song. The Siamese Cat song from Lady and the Tramp is even worse. I had to look at the liner notes to figure out what song I was listening to and even after identifying it, I had difficulty picking out the Disney notes.

Grand & Glorious: Great Operatic Choruses

This is a very enjoyable album performed by one of the best American choral ensembles. All the selections are excellent, and well recorded. My 4-star score is because of Shaw's score of the Pilgrim's chorus from Tannhauser; one of most moving choral works ever written. Shaw has the male chorus sing the straight melody through most of it, with what I'd describe as a glee club sound. While wonderfully sung with remarkable control, it lacks (until near the end) the power I've heard in other performances using greater range of choral harmonies available from such a wonderful ensemble. The "Regina Coeli" is truly a gorgeous performance.

OK, what do you get for $2.98? You can get some great guitar recordings (the complete works of Barrios on Naxos, for instance; Julian Bream's classical baroque festival; Essential Guitar - 2CDs) for somewhat cheap. This one comes without performers (in fact, the CD cover is a one-page leaflet, without performers or even composers). The recording quality is unequal, as if they put together a hodge-podge of what they could find. The recording of Albeniz is sufficient, just not good. Besides, what is a crowd-pleaser but completely uninteresting transcription of the Chopin, Moonlight sonata, or Ah! vous dirais-je Maman? (anything but virtuosic) doing in this CD? It's OK for ambiance (restaurant, shop) and that's about all.

This is a weighty and meritorious collection of orchestral works featuring harp. As someone who has always loved harp, a begginning harpist, looking for a broad base of serious harp music this is essential listening for me.
This collection is transporting. Styles and preferences come and go in the classical music world and the world of record production, but this collection is solidly timeless. A great overview, resource, and tremendous listening pleasure.

I agree - if jello is what you seek, do not purchase this disc. If, on the other hand, you seek passion, beauty, and possibly a widening of your musical horizons, do, by all means, purchase this disc. Soaring arias, heavenly voices and the most lovely music imaginable await you. Still, Richard Clayderman and Britney Spears are available to you and your unfortunate child.

Mad About Bach

This US-inspired compilation has enormously impressed me. If you, your child or a friend doesn't know Bach, this CD is brilliant and if this doesn't convert 'em, probably nothing else will! The pieces & performances have clearly been chosen with great care and are some of the very best around; this is what makes this compilation special. Whether you don't know J.S.Bach at all or like me you already love him and have many CD's of his works, this compilation will please you. I have so many Bach CD's that when I go on vacation or a long trip, I usually don't know what to take on my iPhone; now I do, this CD!
