This cd was definitely worth the money I paid for it. I would even say that it was a bargain. One of the my favorite songs on the cd is "its a beautiful life" by Ace of Base. What I like about the compilation and what makes it worthwhile is that this cd also includes a strong eclectic music of various artists especially the interesting duo between ntrance and Rod Stewart of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy". This is a compilation where you can actually picture yourself out somewhere having fun even if you are listening to it at work, in the car, and/or at home. Since many of the songs on the cd are good this is why I say that at the price I paid made me realize I got a good deal. Some other fun and noteworthy tunes are "Insomnia" by Faithless,"Be ... Enjoyed the content but a bit disappointed. The original was a 33 1/3 RPM Recording that had a lot more content. I judge this CD to only contain about one-half of what was on the recording.

Being in my mid-twenties, I'll admit that my generation is more familiar with "Three Amigos" era Steve Martin, more so than "Wild & Crazy Guy" era Steve Martin. However, having seen him do SNL in the 70's (thanks to the DVDs) I was very interested and curious to hear this album.
The first thing I noticed was that the audio quality is quite poor. It's often VERY hard to hear what he's saying on stage. I usually listen to comedy albums when taking long road trips, and I had to max out the volume in my car to be able to hear at times. Secondly, some of his visual stick doesn't translate well to audio. However, since I managed to get this on a wicked awesome sale from Amazon, I got my money's worth of laughs and entertainment.

Let me preface my remarks by saying that most of the negative reviews here were written by people who were expecting lots of concert footage. I read the label and online description and received exactly what I expected. Some people will give blue a bad review for failing to be red, but Frank Zappa: Apostrophe / Over-Nite Sensation is just what it claims to be.
I got into Zappa while in high school in the late 70's and early 80's. I studied music and still play, but as much as I drifted through various styles and interests, FZs music always stuck and held a special place in my music library. I recall seeing him in concert in 1982 - mind-blowing.
Zappa's music and the reasons we love it are often misunderstood. As Frank says ... Read More:

This CD is like vampire/hillbilly/Hendrix/Weird Al Yankovich/ meets trailer trash. Sweet.
Check out his "Venus Bound" video on youtube. Hahahaahahhaa

Now, this could've potentially rocked the house, but instead it'll have to settle for just being pretty good. For those who don't know, this is Zappa's attempt at a rock opera, telling the tale of a dystopian future where music is made illegal. And while Frank loses sight of the concept fairly quickly and spends most the rest of the opera trying desperately to tie random people getting plooked into the rather sketchy plot, he still cooks up a few of his most enjoyable songs, a majority of them found in the brilliant first act. Act I is arguably his best album other than Hot Rats, containing several of Frank's funniest songs: the ironic nostalgia of the title track, a hilarious, strangely touching story of a garage-rock band; "Catholic Girls", a great ... It took a few years, but finally the secret was publicly out: Darlene Edwards was not Margaret Truman, as many had guessed, but none other than the vocalist with the serene and silky, solid and reassuring voice on so many top-ten recordings of the '40s and '50s ("You Belong to Me" being her most remembered): Jo Stafford, accompanied by her husband (not Jonathan Edwards but Paul Weston).
From her days with Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra and the Pied Pipers through her long association with Johnny Mercer and Capitol records, Stafford sang much quality material from the Great American Songbook, but she also recorded a lot of pop ephemera (Jumbalaya, Shrimp Boats) and sentimental schmaltz (Serenade of the Bells). If redemption were in order, the present ... Read More:
