Simply put, I adore this collection. Like most people, I have a few Tony Bennett CD's in my collection. I listen to them at various times, but until I found this one, I wouldn't say I am a serious fan; you just have to like a man who works so hard to entertain and share his joy of life. But, this CD is different. It's much more intimate and poignant. It's almost as if you have come across Mr. Bennett singing to himself for his own enjoyment. These are songs he'd sing around the house or while he's alone. As he matures through life, we've had the pleasure of being part of that journey and with this CD, we see the depth of his personality and the simplicity of his approach to serious things. It's a master class in how the most complex things ... Read More:

Without doubt the best Nat Cole album you can buy. Some of his classic Jazz Trio albums may be more important, and his easy listening vocal albums were better sellers but this is the best compromise.
Both a fabulously laid back Jazz album and a vehicle for Nat's wonderful vocals. Add in guests Harry Edison on Trumpet, Willie Smith on alto Sax, Juan Tizol Trombone and Stuff Smith on violin and you have a perfect album.
Nat Cole was one of the great Jazz Pianists before his vocal skills stole the limelight. He was a big influence on Oscar Peterson. When you listen to this album everything he plays (and sings for that matter) seems effortless, and thats because as a pianst he was blessed with great technique. In the 1940's ... Read More:

When Frank Sinatra decided not to sing-a-long with Mitch (Miller) at Columbia Records and signed a recording deal with Capitol Records, it ushered in an incredible output of albums and singles with the new label from 1953-1961.
The collaborations were with the finest musical arrangers of the era - including Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins, Billy May and Mavis Rivers - and Sinatra delivered a depth of emotion, along with an emerging hipper persona, with arguably the best material in his iconic career.
The four-discs include 96 tracks and is a welcome addition to the Sinatra collection of any fan or for those wishing to delve into the history of pop music from that time period.

Sixteen (16) Biggest Hits is a very strong Rosemary Clooney CD that showcases Rosemary in excellent form during the 1950s. Each track has excellent sound quality and the artwork is very well done.
"The Ole House" starts the album with Rosemary singing better than ever; and her excellent timing and diction bolsters her performance. The backup vocals help the song along but make no mistake about it--this is Rosemary's number, not anyone else's! The musical accompaniment makes good use of the guitar and percussion. "Tenderly" features Rosemary singing a much slower, romantic tune that she makes timeless with her sublime interpretation of this ballad. The strings enhance the beauty of "Tenderly" and I really like "Tenderly" a lot. It's perfect for slow dancing with your ... Read More:

If there is one word that describes Dean Martin's singing style, it would be "smooth." This wonderful album contains fifteen Christmas songs, all given that great Dean Martin sound. Most of the tunes are upbeat, such as Let It Snow, Jingle Bells, and A Marshmallow World, but there are some more mellow ones, like Blue Christmas, I'll Be Home For Christmas and The Christmas Blues.
(The fifteenth track on my CD is Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! But, it is a different version than track one.)
Overall, I think that this is great Christmas album, one that sounds excellent when the lights are turned off and the Christmas tree provides all of the light. If you want a great Christmas CD, then this is the one to get. I give it my highest recommendations!

I understand the dislike many people have for Howard Cosell. But I thought his intro of Sinatra was one of the best things he did -- a classic. If I were to buy the CD it would be for that reason, because you can find Sinatra singing the best songs here in other places, studio or live.

This 3-CD set is in my collection because I didn't have any Louis Armstrong or any Ella Fitzgerald at the time I bought it, so I envisioned my purchase of this compilation as a "two birds with one stone" sort of acquisition. I didn't know what to expect because, while I knew enough about the artists, I couldn't help but think any Louis Armstrong recording was going to bring on images of a hand-cranked Victrola and scratchy, one dimensional sound. This is anything but. The recordings are, for the most part, crisp and clear. No one will ever mistake them for modern recordings, but no music fan could turn his or her nose up at the more than adequate renderings achieved here. In addition to a lot of great Louis, great Ella, and some classic versions of a number of jazz and swing era standards, the third CD in ... Read More:

I mostly bought this because I was having trouble finding E-O-11 on another album. Glad I did -- lots of great recordings here. A nice addition to my collection.
