I LOVE the music for this movie. I've had it on cassette for years and sing with it all the time. Just recently I decided that I should buy the CD. Why didn't I think of it sooner? I LOVE it!

Along with 'Lady in Autumn' this is probably the best compilation of Billie Holiday's work. Superbly remastered, it is arguably the finest representation of jazz singing in this period EXCEPT for Lady's other recordings during this time. The reason for this is not only Billie Holiday's extraordinary sound (which defined jazz singing with each note), but the quality of the musicians who accompanied her. Many of these sessions were led by Teddy Wilson (the leader with whom she is most closely associated during this period), who led on nearly half of the selections on this CD, and features legends like Ben Webster, Lester Young, and Buck Clayton.
The songs are of a higher quality than many of the pieces Holiday was given to record during her earliest ... Read More:

This is a excellent mix of well known Nat King Cole hits and very easy to listen to songs that show the true talent of this great singer. I give it five stars simply on it's merit and enjoyment. But one I wish was on this CD is "Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy days of Summer". Why it isn't I don't understand. But,I haven't found it yet on any other NKC mix either. Don't let that stop you though. You'll enjoy every song that is on this CD.
I think this is one of the best Barbra's CDs and by far the most popular.
I needed no information about it, because I'm Barbra's devoted fan. Your price was good.

Barbra Streisand's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 is a good CD that is just too short to be called any type of "greatest hits" album. Even when taken together with Volume 1 of Barbra Streisand's greatest hits this CD is still way too short. That disappoints me. However, what we do get is very good quality throughout; and the sound quality is excellent. I like that artwork, too!
The CD starts with the love theme from Barbra Streisand's remake of the classic movie entitled A Star Is Born. Barbra sings "Evergreen" with passion and she never sounded better. Her excellent diction and her uncanny sense of timing helps to make her singing all the better! Barbra also handles tempo and key modulations as if it were as natural as breathing. Of course, we know that it really isn't ... Read More:

Most people think I'm insane to love Sinatra as much as I do...especially because I have such an eccentric music collection. This CD is great if you love Sinatra's music - you get all his goodies in one little place. He can croon to me as much as he wants.

The reason why you won't find a single review that gives this collection less than five stars is because this is just a stunning, amazing, extremely satisfying collection of music. The greatest music composers and lyricists of our time, each represented and sung by one of the great female jazz vocalists of ALL time, combines to make 16 CD's of classic jazz. I hemmed and hawed over buying this because of the price and bodaciousness of the collection, but with The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings: Eighth Edition (Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings) making Ella singing Cole Porter one of its core collection selections, I wasn't sure I should buy just the Cole Porter portion, or if I should buy the whole giant set. I feared buying just the Cole Porter and being wowed and then having to ... Read More:

I Think its a good album. I like all the songs but with one slight
disappointment, he sings the english version of Besame Mucho.

In all honesty, the cover of "Come Fly With Me" is enough to get you to purchase the album. Who can resist the image of Frank, standing against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, sporting his trademark tilted hat and fine pressed tux, a sly look in his eye, inviting you to take his hand and take to the sky to "get away from it all."
Of course, there's more to "Come Fly With Me" than beautiful artwork, as the music is just as if not more beautiful and equally warm and inviting. Frank's sixth(!) album of 1957, "Come Fly With Me" was Frank's first collaboration with Billy May. Whereas Gordon Jenkins (who worked with Frank for the first time earlier in the year on the woefully underrated "Where Are You?") specialized in moody, string driven ballads, and the legendary Nelson ...
