The reason I gave this 3 CD Set 4 stars instead of 5? These recordings
were made before 'Stereo' came along. But, the engineers did a great job
of transfering (Re-mastering?) the songs to CD, and they sound very good.
Seventy-five classics by the greatest crooner of the 20th century.
Interested in 'Sinatra in Stereo'? You might also buy "The Reprise
Collection"-- it's ALL in stereo. Buy both-- you'll be glad you did.

"Sinatra Reprise" focuses on the singer's best work from 1960 to 1979 - combining the integral singles ("Summer Wind," "That's Life" and "My Way") with classic performances of "Fly Me to the Moon," "The Best Is Yet to Come" and "It Was a Very Good Year." Along the way are memorable live versions of "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "The Lady Is a Tramp." Of course, the show-stoppers remain "Luck Be a Lady" and a triumphant "New York, New York." Though no match for the glorious Capitol era, this 20-track Reprise compilation holds up quite nicely.

The film, Cabaret, based on the Broadway and West End musical only uses the music in the cabaret scenes during the decadent Berlin era before Hitler rose to power in 1933. Before Hitler's reign of terror, Berlin was host to nightclubs like the Kit Kat Club. In my opinion, the film and it's soundtrack are superior and perfect compared to the revivals. Only Liza can sing as brilliantly. To me, she will always be Sally Bowles, the tortured childlike singer who can sing dark and enchanting songs to melt your heart. The film also included Joel Grey who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as the Cabaret's maestro. Even Tony Winner Alan Cumming can't come close to filling Joel's shoes. With all due respect to the people involved with the production of this 2000 Sony release (Didier C. Deutsch, Darcy M. Proper, Danny Bennett and Steve Berkowitz), not to mention Tony himself, it's really quite impossible to come with a definitive single 20-track CD "ultimate" compilation for a man who racked up some 67 hit singles from his first in 1951 (Because Of You - # 1 for TEN weeks that summer) to his last in 1976 (As Time Goes By - # 28 Adult Contemporary early that spring). Never mind his many albums.

I enjoy this album very much and it beat pretty much all modern music, which is usually somewhat depressing and rather meaningless. This album puts me in a great mood every time I hear it.

This movie is a masterpiece!! Barbra Streisands voice is, by far, the greatest sound I have ever heard, and her acting is just lovely in every performance. Although I think every movie Barbra is in is a gift to her fans, I think this movie showed her stretch her talents. I own the soundtrack and the film!

She doesn't know the songs to the Josh Groban one but likes it anyway. She loves the Anne Murrey one, and is still making up her mind about the Sarah Brightman CD.
