I understand the dislike many people have for Howard Cosell. But I thought his intro of Sinatra was one of the best things he did -- a classic. If I were to buy the CD it would be for that reason, because you can find Sinatra singing the best songs here in other places, studio or live.

The two that comes to mind on this CD is 'Isn't It Romantic' and 'Bewitched'. To me, these two songs were truly written for Ella Fitzgerald by Rodgers & Hart!!

I've listen to other performers singing 'Isn't It Romantic' like Tony Bennett, and he can not even come close to the special romantic feeling that Ella has for this song. Something that came directly from her soul!

Those two songs and the others are a good example why you should buy this album.

Oddly, I heard Volume 1 when I borrowed it from the library. Fell in love with it, and immediately ordered both volumes. They really are the best of both worlds---one of the greatest song writers of all time combined with one of the greatest singers of all time. I give both Volumes my highest recommendation. You can listen to them without distraction and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Or you can use them as wonderful background music for dinner guests. Or as the backdrop to a seduction scene. Beautiful and versatile music.

Patsy Cline is not your typical twang and twirl country gal. She had the most versatile voice in recorded music history. She could croon a country ballad, turn around and belt out a rockabilly tune, and then swoop a jazz song. In this collection, you get Patsy at her truest self. Where she found her impeccable voice and put it with just the right material. I know so many people that don't like Country Music (which is a shame, because they're missing out!) but have discovered Patsy Cline's music and have been converted. Her records and voice are timeless.

They don't get much better than Ella Fitzgerald and her 'Song Books'. This selection of ballads taken from that series is a delicious taste of classic 'romantic' standards by some of America's great composers sung by one of America's truly great singers. Each one is timeless. Her inflection is flawless, the orchestrations are luxurious and every song is a jewel to be savored and enjoyed for it's sensual tone. This in not Ella Fitzgerald in her 'be-bopping' mode; it is, rather, a more reflective, lush style of singing. This is a fantastic CD for anyone interested in Ella, anyone interested in great songs.......or anyone interested in classic 'make out' music.

Love is an outstanding release from Rosemary Clooney with lush arrangements by the great nelson Riddle. When they say that this showcases a slightly older and more polished Rosemary Clooney, they are right. The sound quality is excellent and I like the artwork as well.

The album begins with Rosemary singing "Invitation;" this song doubles as a beautiful opening tune and an invitation to listen to the entire CD. Rosemary sings with an awful lot of grace and style; she shows a great deal of maturity and polish--great! "Yours Sincerely" features Rosemary again in the spotlight; she never misses a beat and she handles this complicated vocal arrangement flawlessly.
