"Mr. Tambourine Man": Maybe their quintessential hit? There is the characteristic instrumental sound and the voices melding together in a typical fashion. The liner notes suggest that the Byrds were a kind of synthesis between Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I'm not so sure that I see that, but this cut might make the case for some listeners. It seems hard to believe now both as to the performer as well as to what was being attempted that anyone would take umbrage at a performer using an electric guitar to tell a folk story (or any story for that matter). It is not necessary to go into all the details of what or what did not happen with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 to know that one should be glad, glad as hell, that Bob Dylan continued to listen to his own drummer and carry on a career based on electronic music.

Others have, endlessly, gone on about Bob Dylan's role as the voice of his generation (and mine), his lyrics and what they do or do not mean and his place in the rock or folk pantheons, or both. I just want to comment on a couple of songs here. ... Read More:

The show was great. Steve had really good players w/him.. With all the music he has recorded I don't know why he has to throw in copy tunes of other bands even if they were some of his fav. musicians. The only other thing about the dvd I didn't like was the price was a little high compared to other dvds. Sound was very good & the venue looked very nice. The cameras liked blonde women in the audience.. lol.

New York native Billy Joel released his fifth album The Stranger in November of 1977.
Prior to The Stranger, Billy was almost seen as a pop one-hit wonder thanks to the title track from his 1973 album Piano Man (despite the fact FM rock stations played "Captain Jack" and "New York State of Mind"). However, pop radio ignored him. It was in the summer of 1977 that Billy and producer Phil Ramone (famed for work with The Carpenters and Paul Simon) went into A&R Recording Studios in New York to record Billy's fourth album for Columbia, which (had it not sold) might have been his last time at bat. Well..i've never written a review on AMZN before. I am an absolute music afficianado and am a Grateful Dead fanatic. I would say that I have in my collection every single important 60's and 70's albums created (from Zep, Beatles, Floyd, all Dylan, Stones, Who, Allmans, Neil, Hendrix, Dead, and the zillion other important contributions worldwide).

THIS ALBUM BLOWS THEM ALL AWAY!

It is without question the most impressive studio album ever recorded and should be a part of any and all music fans collection. Most people know very little about the members of this group and their importance to the music industry. The band had barely finished recording their debut when they started working on the second album Axis: Bold As Love. Released in 1967, this is a solid effort all the way through.
Jimi Hendrix is featured on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding plays bass and sings on one song, and there's Mitch Mitchell on drums and some background vocals. Production duties, like the first album, were handled by Chas Chandler for the thirteen songs included.

Throughout the recording there's an excellent mix of funk, soul, pop, jazz, psychedelic rock, early hard rock, and even some avant-garde.
