Out of my whole U2 collection, I'd have to say this is my favorite one. U2 is a band that comes out with albums that never sound the same, but you know it's them. I love this album because it was an area U2 never explored as far as modern rock. Just like Bono said on the "Achtung Baby" Video, it's the most serious album with the least sounding title.
I love the whole allum, but "One", "The Fly", and "Ultra Violet" are my favorite tracks. Just like any other album they came out with, all 4 band members shine through with they're playing skills. I'm so glad the always do "One" when in concert. This is A MUST album to get for any U2 fan. I love this album so much, I can never get sick of it!

I don't know if Chicago has a transit authority or if the band that became Chicago borrowed that name from the organization, but I know what this group meant when it first arrived in 1969 -- a new voice for Chicago, which many of its fans had subsitituted a swastika for the "hi" in the city's name a year earlier during the events of August 1968.

No reviewer here has commented on track 10, Prologue, August 29, 1968, which is an actual slice of real speech given that night before a march at the Democratic National Convention in the city. The 10,000 Vietnam war protesters in town that week regularly tangled with a 30,000-strong of the city's police force, National Guard and Army troops stationed there to quell any disturbance. My personal favorite cut is "Dead and Lovely" which melts from streetwise to world-weary before finishing strong and swaggering. Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg's lush, piquant arrangements, Tom Wait's sharp and savory lyrics and SSJ's honeyed gravel vocals add up to one tasty grapefruit!

I just recently obtained copies of both this title and deja vu. For the best possible listening experience, burn both albums on one cdr (both fit on an 80 minute cd), then sit back and enjoy! I especially like to play this on my drive to work, my lunch break, and sometimes again on the drive home. I have been familiar w the So Far album for many years since i first bought it on cassette at a used record store back in the nineties. 'so far' was my initiation to their music. Now, many years later, I score a copy of their debut and the whole thing just rocks.

The first time I heard this record back in 1971 when it was first released
my ears were opened. I was into the blues and was blown away with the duel lead guitars that Dickie Betts and Duane Allman played so well.
When I look back and evaluate who the great guitar players in Rock history are I have to include Duanne Allman among the very best.
It is as Eric Clapton once said "We were coming at the same thing from a different direction, I was bending strings and Duanne was playing slide.
Duanne Allman to this day is still possibly the best slide player I have ever heard. Ironically Derek Trucks is probably the best I have heard recently, ironically both from the Allman Brothers.

OCTOBER has some real stand out tracks on it; I'm enjoying them more than ever before. In fact, i haven't listened to this album in decades until now, and I am surprised how much I love a lot of the songs. Perhaps in part due to how much better the music sounds than it did on my original vinyl and CD. The same team that re-mastered JT and BOY, and WAR, Arnie Acosta and Cheryl Engels at Bernie Grundman Mastering, did this one, and they did a wonderful job, IMO. Not too loud, thank goodness, and really open and clear, and with details I never noticed before.

This is my favorite bonus CD so far, because I love all the live performances. It is great fun to compare the live versions of songs to their studio counterparts. And, as all have already said, how cool to ... Read More:

Well..i've never written a review on AMZN before. I am an absolute music afficianado and am a Grateful Dead fanatic. I would say that I have in my collection every single important 60's and 70's albums created (from Zep, Beatles, Floyd, all Dylan, Stones, Who, Allmans, Neil, Hendrix, Dead, and the zillion other important contributions worldwide).
