Let me start by saying, I am a Queen fan(atic). Have been since I was 9 years old. I can pretty be counted on to A) buy any Queen merchandise and/or products, or B) or least give said merchandise and/or products a fair look before I pass by. That having been said, I don't think this greatest hits set is really the best representation of the most versatile band ever. That's right, Beatles, I said "ever".
The problem with sets like these is that the average listener will buy it and think, "Well, that's Queen taken of, then", stick it on their shelf and forget about it. But then they'll miss out on great stuff like "Tie Your Mother Down", "Stone Cold Crazy", "In The Lap Of The Gods", "Mustapha", "It's Late", "Flick Of The Wrist"...the list ... Read More:

There are two glaringly obvious affectations to blame for the artistic failure of U2's 'the Joshua Tree'. One is the record company, who MUST for the sake of their shareholders, send young provincial bands to the colonies, and the huge rewards from the eager masses there. The other is the Clash.
'London Calling' sent U2, and any number of other groups from the UK and beyond, scuttling for their cowboy boots and neckerchiefs in the mistaken belief that they-could-take-on-American-influences-and-still-be-interesting....not so.
If you give young people in their 20's, lots of cash and put them on a plane to the heart of consumerism, they're gonna imbibe...and how. Within weeks they're adopting that ridiculous gait all rock groups must adopt ... Read More:

This recording is part of my family history. While my father was soldier in the Vietnam War, my mother sent him a copy of this album. It's taken me 40 years to give this piece of material a serious listening and it is quite outstanding. Bob Dylan is a folk singer in the tradition of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger but transcends that: not just because he embraced elements of rock-n-roll, but rather because he is the poet of his times and his country. He understands America in a way that Walt Whitman and Emerson once did.
His lyrics are cryptic, yet descriptive of certain moods and feelings. Dylan says what he feels without exactly saying so. It is the essence of poetry. There is also a great deal of humor in his words, as well as, a certain pathos. The ... Read More:

The mid to late 80's, 1986-87 in particular, was a great time for music. This album came along at just the right time for me, age 11-12, just when I was really starting to get ''into'' music. I love almost all of the music from this time period, and this album is no exception. A friend of mine had the cassette, and when I would go over to visit we would listen to the tape from start to finish. At the same time, take the liner notes and work on memorizing all the lyrics. I now have the newly remastered CD, and when I pop this in the player, I still listen from start to finish. The new remaster is great, this album sounds better than ever. This is pop-metal at it's finest. From start to finish, all songs are great. To listen, brings back great memories, and is still ... Read More:

This can be played on one side as a cd and the other as a dvd, but we just play it in our car and it has a hard time reading the cd. The music is excellent though.

Isn't funny that my favorite track on cd 1, I had never heard of before?
"You" speaks to my spirit, and touches me emotionally. It is my favorite, and I even found the lyrics so I can read and sing along while listening. I play this track over and over. It makes me feel like I am in the church about to catch the spirit. It is so uplifting, Marvin's interpretation. There is a Temptation feel to this song, a David Ruffinish sound.
I feel that on cd one, Marvin was in the process of evolving into his signature sound. I feel that cd 2 is where he evolved and where he established his true voice. These songs I feel are spiritually based, in that they touch the spirit.
