The Ultimate Collection by The Marvelettes is a very strong single CD compilation of what fine artistry these young woman produced when they were a girl group! The sound is excellent and I like the artwork.

"Please Mr. Postman" starts the track set with one of their best huts ever; they sing and harmonize to perfection; the percussion and guitar work add a lot to this tune. "Please Mr. Postman" has the group singing of a young woman who wants an important letter from the man she loves. The melody is great, too--perfect for dancing! "So Long Baby" has them singing in a higher vocal range but it still holds its own very well; and I like the piano arrangement very much. This album includes all of the Supremes biggest and best hits and then some. Everything from When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes to the final Someday Well Be Together. This is an album where I can listen straight through without any stops. The only thing that I was disappointed in is the sound quality of the songs. With all the digital master machines they have today, I would hope they would be able to have better sound quality than this. The vinyl copy of my Supremes albums sound better than this. But as for the songs, they are fantastic. Baby Love,Where Did Our Love Go?,Come See About Me,The Happening,etc...they all are here. I recommend this album to you. Enjoy!!

Had the album back in the 1970's...one of the best out there. After seeing them in concert this past month (Aug 2008) just had to finally get all of their albums on CD. One of the best bands of all times...crosses over all color lines and musical boundaries. A must for your collection.

I love it!!! It a great collections of songs by a legendary groupin their own rights. If you like great gospel quartet singers, Sam Cooke and the soul stirrers are one of the best in their time. It refreshing to hear this great gospel quartet. A blend of harmonizing voices. Their collabration in voice is wonderful. When they sing acapella, the blend of voices is perfect harmony. The collection is great. You even hear the live recordings of Sam Cooke and Soul stirrers. There is a small book enclosed that records the history of their humble begininings. You should get you a set today!!!!!!
