I was a little slow to warm up to this CD, mainly because some of the centuries-old tunes that are showcased here have not ever done much for me on a personal or spiritual level. The more I listened, though, the more the songs began to grow on me. Jars of Clay did a masterful job of taking old hymns that once seemed dry and a bit stodgy, and updated the musical style to breathe new cultural relevance into them for the 21st century Christian.
