We took our daughter to see Laurie Berkner in concert this summer. From a very early age she fell in love with Laurie from watching her on Jack's Big Music Show and then from watching her on the Laurie Berkner Band DVD. After the concert, I purchased this new CD of music and my daughter has begun to memorize the words to the songs--she is only two and a half. Her favorite so far is Let's Samba. Highly recommended especially for children who truly enjoy singing and music.

At first, it seems like a transtition to children's music is odd for Barenaked Ladies. They've always been more concerned with wit, something children of a young age don't catch onto. Not only that, but their image as the geek band that everyone loves doesn't necessarily lend itself to being childish. However, when you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. The college crowd that embraced them upon their 1998 smash hit "One Week" is now ten years older. They're in their late twenties to mid-thirties, and, like the band members, probably have children of their own. After so many years without the recognition they deserved, I'm glad the Giants have found their niche (even though it's with the monolithic Disney). My whole family loves this CD/DVD -- and my son has known his ABCs for years. I find myself continuing to listen in the car, even after I've dropped him off at school. I just bought 3 copies from Amazon as gifts, and hope anyone who reads this enjoys Giants' ABCs as much as we do!
