Alligator does it again! Incredible compilation. If you are contemplating starting a blues collection get the Anniversary Collections by Alligator first. These CD sets introduce you to many talented artists without shelling out 100's of bucks.

As an extra there is a video of Hounddog Taylor that you can play on your computer. Very nice!

Although the title is totally hyperbole, this is an excellent collection of blues tunes of various eras and styles.

I am a relative newcomer to the blues, so a compilation like this is right up my alley. It lets me get a taste of different aspects of the blues, and to discover artists that I would not have otherwise been exposed to.

Yes that's how I feel about the lone Elvin Bishop song to make it into the top 40. I hated it with such a seething passion that I know I have to keep it clean here otherwise this won't get posted. The stupid key of "F", and that's the grade I give the song is the main reason I hate this song, but the lyrics tell me of something I could never do, and that's have alot of girls, and have them flock around me that way. I just never had that happen, and I doubt I ever will, but why would I want to? This band is one of my favorites! Exceptional to watch in person, as well as a must have for all their studio productions. This CD is great in every way.. Inetta Visor is top on my list of singers.. of ANY kind!! You will NOT be dissapointed in this purchase. Pierre Lacocque has gathered great musicians here. and of course his Harp is the best. ENJOY!

I love the telecaster, and AC really rips it up here. You can just feel AC's emotion with each screaming note. It's nice to hear a recording that isn't so polished, but beautifully spontaneous.

There may be slightly (and I do mean slightly) better produced Muddy Waters CDs, but this stands out as my favorite. It has an intimate, yet at the same time outstanding, archival feel. Without R+B musicians like Muddy Waters its hard to imagine the evolution of mainstream Rock.

This CD has got to be in any music anthology, and certainly in any R&B collection.

It is a cultural treasure.
