I recommend this album to anyone who likes Bob Dylan's second masterpiece [not second album], Blonde On Blonde, as these 2 albums have that same THIN WILD MERCURY SOUND.
I'm not here to give a second rate, third rate, fourth rate history lesson, just recommending an EXCELLENT album, by an EXCELLENT blues band, what a shame this was scrapped at first... then again there's much more room for appreciation now...

Little Milton Campbell was a popular blues/R&B singer of the 60's and early 70's. This collection shows that he was a talented singer and musician, and while he was more R&B than blues, his songs often had the bluesy feel that one would expect from someone performing on Chess Records.
"We're Gonna Make In," "So Mean To Me," "Man Loves Two,"" Who's Cheating Who?" and "We've Got the Winning Hand" and many of the other cuts on this record are entertaining and harken back to an era when the lines between blues and R&B seemed indistinguishable. This is an excellent collection.

If your main passion and joy is electric blues, then the most important reviews for you to follow are Shaq's, "The King Of The World Blues Reviewer". I've checked other reviewers on some blues CD's, and their history also lists reviews of psychology books, movies, etc. Shaq reviews nothing but da blues! With that being said, let's get down to business. Albert Collins, is one of my six all-time favorite electric blues guitarists! One of the problems in building a collection of Albert's work, is a lot of the CD's are recorded under older, limited technology, and the volume and clarity isn't too good. This Deluxe CD, is loud and clear! The subject matter on this CD ranges from the "fun & humorous", opening song "I Ain't Drunk" ("I'm Just Drinking!"), ... Read More:

I can't believe how this album could have had any negative reviews on it. I can't think of another album off the top of my head that has three masters of their genres getting together and jamming. The people that wrote the negative reviews must have been expecting songs that were written together and rehearsed, but I don't think the project would have worked if they took more than one day. As legendary as these guys are, we should just be thankful that ego didn't prevent them from getting together just for one day and having a good time jamming. And that's what this album is: a document of a day that three geniuses got together and had a great time doing what they love, playing the blues.
So no, these songs aren't tightly written and rehearsed. These ... Read More:

I absolutely love B.B. King. He and his partner, (his guitar) "Lucille," get plenty of focus on this 10-song collection. Their big songs like 'Sweet Sixteen,' 'The Thrill Is Gone' and their duet with Bobby 'Blue' Bland 'Let The Good Times Roll' all appear on this set.
But, the reason that I'm not giving this set five stars is because it stops at just 10 songs. B.B.'s songs can get pretty long, but at just 10 songs, there is plenty of room for more great ones. Where are some of his EMI year songs like 'Every Day I Have The Blues'? That's a very disappointing omission.
Overall, if you want a quick, cheap B.B. King retrospective spanning a two decade period (1962-1983), than look no further. This set gets the job done well. But for B.B. King fans who ... Read More:

72 tracks on this compilation, and not a single flaw.
The Plantation Recordings from the early 40's and his late 70's albums produced by Johnny Winter are all fine, because again, he just couldn't open his mouth and sing a BAD song.
But leave these ones alone, and get The Chess Box (Everything he has done for Chess between 1947-1972). Just like other Chess artists (Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy) - the Chess years are his best by far, and the tracks put chronologically here serves you ear and historic sense great.
The music here is absolutely astonishing - Muddy's clear, throaty famous vocal and whining slide work, Little Walter's/James Cotton's weeping harmonicas, Otis Spann on piano and all the other members of this legendary blues band.

Upon the death of SRV, Rolling Stone asked, 'how does it feel to be the best blues guitar player alive today?' E.C. replied, "I've no idea, go ask Tab Benoit."
I've seen him in person - a wonderful, powerful, full-on assault of blues and bending the frets as he cares to - and now own several of TB's works, and love them all.
If your taste for the blues runs like mine - ZZ Top to Clapton to SRV to Robert Randolph and the Family Band to Muddy Waters to Buddy Guy to Erida Badu to the Blues Brothers - ANY of Tab's works will make you smack your lips in indulgence and reflect 'mighty tasty indeed'.
