This Australian band's music is so strong it bursts off the player. The opening instrumental "Granny & Rory MacLeod" is such a powerful anthem, it'll get you off your feet! Angus Richardson's "Falling" boasts a great melody, "All I want is you to see how you burn inside me; all I need is you to know that you never leave me." From the rather silly "The Clumsy Lover" to the strong instrumental "The Mason's Apron" and the lovely closer "Carry Me," Hamish, Angus & Fergus with band mate Dave Albert Allen blast with energy and passion on this wonderful set. Outstanding concert! Great quality recording from one of the best musical groups in recent times. Camera work was good, and sound quality excellent. If you're not familiar with the Corrs work before the 'In Blue' release, this is an excellent concert covering their first releases. You can listen to it over and over without tiring of the quality of the music.

This album, along with "Harvest Storm," "Island Angel," and "Local Ground," is one of my favorites from Altan. I bought it after already owning many of the band's later works, and find myself constantly returning to the simplicity and intimacy of this, Altan's second album. The signature sound of Altan (driving tunes and delicate songs) is here, not so much as a band as a duet between Frankie Kennedy's flute and Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh's fiddle, accompanied by light guitar or keyboard. The tunes are a mix of reels, highlands, strathspeys, and jigs. I'm especially fond of Kennedy's flute playing, and "The Cat That Ate the Candle/Over the Water to Bessie" and "The Sunset" are as beautifully rendered as anything found on later albums. I am extremely disappointed in this cd. How anyone could state that this is celtic music - even modern celtic music is way off the beam. This is nothing more than ordinary New Age music. Whilst some of the singers have haunting sounds, Sharon Knight is not one of them. I think she should not have been included on this album as her song is more in the pop genre without being anything to write home about. The guitar work by Steve Gordon is sloppy with irritating screeching sounds of his finger work, particularly on "The Secret Rose". This is annoying when you try to sit back and relax. If anyone wants beautiful relaxing music, I recently found Diane Arkenstone's CD "Aquaria" after surfing on Amazon.

Loved it. Hoppe and Wheater create truely beautiful and healing music that is like no other I have heard. I found the album "Yearnings to be
deeply emotional and healing. "Wind Songs" is as beautiful, but slightly less emotional/sad and more even kiel than "Yearnings". "Wind Songs" is soothing to listen to anytime.
