We bought our original copy of this album at a crafts fair, years ago. It quickly became a new favorite. My folks and I look forward to listening to this album all year long. It contains well loved favorites like "Good King Wenceslas," and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." Yet Loreena McKennitt also sings two other hardly known favorites like "The Coventry Carol," and "Snow." Her rendition of "Seeds of Love," brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I highly recommend that you add this to your holiday collection. You won't regret it one bit.

Clannad's album FUAIM, released in 1982, marked the end of their purely traditional phase, here the band began to use rock and jazz elements. FUAIM, "sound" in Irish, consists of only traditional songs, most in the Irish language, but modern instrumention is added.

FUAIM's standouts are "An tUll", featuring excellent traditional drumming, and "The Green Fields of Gaothdobhair", a sweetly sung paen to the band's hometown in Ireland's County Donegal. The long and complex "Ni La Na Gaoithe La Na Scoilb?" manages to combine modern instrumentation with traditional instruments that doesn't compromise the original style of the band. The video quality of this dvd is just fair. I felt like I was watching it with VHS. But the show sounded really good with the stadium reverb and all that. It's the best video to see the pretty Corrs. They look younger there. Yea..it was quite some time already. So if you want the best looking of the Corrs either get this or the Live in London.

They basically performed 95% of the songs they made back then (talk on corner and forgiven not forgotten). The fans were dancing when instrumentals were being played. It was a joy to watch.

This dvd comes with some bonus videos like breathless MV and 2 other performances @ Fleadh 2000.

If you like Norah Jones, Alison Krauss or Nickle Creek you'll love this album. Just saw then live last night in Connecticut and they were even better. Snow Leopard live on the dvd is fantastic and Cooler at the Edge is magnificently fresh.

I am so glad they came out with the Gold, it gives us a chance to go behind the scenes, learn more about the dancers and performers, Michael Flatley, and how it all started. Everything starting with the Chieftains all the way to Feet of Flames Budapest. I really wish they made a DVD of the Budapest show! I was there and it was just unbelieveable, so different, yet so Michael Flatley. The crowd was going crazy. His parents were sitting in the first row. Yeah, there was some butt shaking and a lot of high tech involved but everything after the original Lord of the Dance is going to be like that.

Clannad is one of those groups that people discover.....and wish they'd known of them years before. But it's not too late to catch up! Superb songs, superb singing, superb musicianship, audiophile grade recording. I believe that Moire Brennan is Enya's sister? Anyway, Clannad's music is more approachable, more traditional, than Enya. But just as mysterious, deep, and alluring. It draws you in and takes you away from a world full of problems to one we can only aspire to. Take a vacation....in your own living room. Landmarks is as good as anything they've done. Start here.

Like most Putamayo collections, this is a good one. The artists included come from Ireland, Scotland, USA, and Canada and include some well known names including Clannad and the Chieftains. No artists from Galicia in Spain though and there are many fine artists to choose from there who are in this style. Like most other Putamayo CD's , the length here is only so-so- this one clocks in at 53 minutes , which is high for a Putamyao CD. If you go with a Rough Guide CD, you'll get a lot more songs and length. What is here is good Celtic music from a nice mix of artists, though.
