Nice collection of traditional music with an other-worldy sound.

The fact that you get only 6 songs for $23 seems odd. I did some searching, and GoMusic.RU has the album for $0.81. That, by contrast, seems too low, but I can live with it.

I have really enjoyed this CD, it's especially soothing after a long work day! It reminds me of church music (not surprising, given the title;) but I love inspirational music so it works for me!

When I first bought this CD, I had no idea how much I would come to really enjoy it. I force myself to avoid it all year until the leaves start to turn. Then, I listen to it several times a week through Thanksgiving. "Bygone Days" is an extremely relaxing tune, only outdone by the piano master himself, George Wintson, with "Thanksgiving." If you collect holiday-type music, this is a MUST HAVE for the fall season.

This is a fantastic irish band that knows their genre, from slow, beautiful folk tunes to high energy fiddle thrashing and funny lyrics. They are, by far, my favorite Irish or Gaelic band.

I have always loved the Chieftans and owned many of their tapes/cd's and have never been disappointed until now. This cd is definately not the best of anything they've ever done. I've never even heard of these songs. Wish I could get my money back.

Terrific material here from the Clancys and Makem, no question about that. The original two albums this CD has been assembled from are classics of Irish traditional folksong, and in a way, this CD package is the best way to acquire both in digital format at a bargain price. However, the mastering for CD is perfunctory at best and a cheat at worst. The first half, the rebel songs from the original "Irish Songs of Rebellion" (aka Rising for the Moon; be aware of many repackagings of Clancy Bros. material on various labels) is the better job, although the production still sounds thin. But the second half, the drinking songs from "Come Fill Your Glass with Us", is woeful. The playing speed is too fast compared to the original vinyl and these songs have patently ... Read More:

This early work of original compositions and traditional songs with accompaniment by Celtic harp is truly beautiful and a must have for all lovers of Loreena's music. Her original songs are so haunting and atmospheric they take you away to a moonlight place. This is every bit as good as her later work, if not better.
