It's not an uncommon case when most people are in agreement about what an artist's best album is. It's considerably rarer when there's a general consensus about what an artist's best and second-best record is. Van Morrison seems to be one such case. Most Van fans agree that this, while not QUITE as good as Astral Weeks, is good enough to earn the #2 slot. Part of me wants to give St. Dominic's Preview that award, but that's not to step on Moondance. It's definitely one of Van's very best albums. And it's a total shift from Astral Weeks, with Van going all-out R&B and succeeding. For instance, by singing "Crazy Love" in a delicate, sexy falsetto, and by making the song an ode to the healing powers of, well, crazy love, he makes a fine case for ... Read More:

If it wasn't for my local library, I probably never would have taken a chance and purchased a LM cd. I very soon
after taking the cds back to the library purchased this version of LM LIVE. While i tend to lean towards Rock,
occasionally I will pick something up that there's been a buzz about, just to see if there's any merit to it. YES!!
I am hard pressed to compare this album to anything else, because, well I haven't heard anything like it. My
favorite live albums incl.: "Full House" by J. Geils, "Rockin' The Fillmore" by Humble Pie, "Mississippi Muddy Waters Live" and "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads" . Live In Paris and Toronto is now in my pantheon
of live recordings. The music seeps into your very being and ... Read More:

Purchased in '88, played it in intense rotation for years... and then discovered it missing. Maybe my wife's sister; maybe some other ne'er-do-well. But its absence haunts me as much as the music enchanted me.
'Bang on the Ear' is a sprightly 3-chord ditty, a gritty answer to Willie and Julio's cloying 'To All the Girls I've Loved Before'... G-D-G-D-C, simple as that.

Excellent CD. I bought the tape when it first came out and have purchased a few more for doctor's to use in their offices. I love to walk in and hear doctor's offices playing it and everyone is very relaxed!! This is special!I play it for my clients to unwind and all have commented how much they enjoy the ambient music as well. Very soothing!

I've loved Capercaillie for years. They're tops in Celtic rock, folk infused with contemporary electronics and a bit of Afro sound through in for good measure. Their lead singer, Karen Matheson, has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard--in studio recordings and in person.
"Roses and Tears" is not in my opinion their best CD, but it's a strong addition to their work. It's a mix of traditional and contemporary, English and Gaelic lyrics.
Anti-war songs are strong right now and this CD doesn't let that anthem go lightly. "Don't you Go" and "Soldier Boy" both deliver a solid punch.
I love hearing Karen Matheson singing Gaelic and there's enough tunes here to keep me happy. "Him Bo" is a great opener. "A Racan' ... Read More:

Who says there's no new, amazing music out there? Classic Celtic folk music combined with Salsa, bred from the group's time spent with the sizzling Latin Carribe masters of Cuba ...go figure. Its off the well beaten path but full of energy and enough surprises to keep you moving to it's infectious beat while grabbing your senses with the unexpected. And never let it be said that there is nothing wrong with a few good looking men in kilts. Sabor!

i must admit that i heard this on a recorded tape while i was waiting for a girl i was babysitting to fall asleep, and i may have missed the last song or two, but what i heard was amazing. this woman's music is beautiful--you lose yourself in her lyrics, her voice, and her stunning guitar riffs: especially when you expect to hear a child's lullaby tape, and you get kate rusby. someone you may never have heard of, but if you know one thing, you know that as soon as you can get to the store you're going to buy her cd.

We saw Carbon Leaf for the second time last night at World Cafe Live in Philly. They performed some songs that they haven't done in a while as well as their standards.
When they finished singing "The War Is In Color", a friend turned to me and said "That song alone was worth the price of the tickets." It's also worth the price of this album. It's an astounding, incredibly powerful song--some of their best lyric writing--and that's saying something.
But there is lots more to enjoy on this album. It's not "Indian Summer"; it's different, and that's fine. I probably play "Indian Summer" more, but I'm glad I know this album too.
