Gaelic Storm always entertains, & this CD is no exception. Genuinely fun, "Courtin In The Kitchen" stands out. Fine enjoyable music, combined with a few laughs. Other G.S. albums are better, but you won't regret your money spent on this one.

I'm not sure what must have been going through the minds of the record label when assembling this collection as a sequel to Pure Moods vol. I. Now granted, most of Pure Moods I is actually quite good and enjoy it though I don't think it stacks up to the "Earthtone Collection", "Elevation", or "Buddha Lounge" series nor warranted TV commercials. The second entry in the Pure Moods series is in my opinion, the most uneven and shakiest of the entries for several reasons, several tracks do absolutely nothing for me. "Nightingale" strikes me as meandering classical leftovers from a orchestral outtake. No offense but what on Earth is "Breezin" doing on this collection?! It's not a bad song by any means but it has absolutely no place on here and belongs ... Read More:

Everything Loreenna McKennitt does is graceful, beautiful and poetic! This is a gem and worth the money spent to purchase and the time spent to watch it.
Release Date January 29, 2008
the quality of the sound recording was the worst I have ever heard. I have other CD's of the same person and the difference is staggering.
Release Date March 06, 2001
A glorious concert in a historic setting, with all involved in top notch form. Finbar finds a great old Johnny Cash number, Ronan sings a Glocka
Mora to end all, and Anthony Kearns sings murderously difficult versions
of Macushla and The Croppy Boy like an angel. And their Courtin' and Irish
Medleys, and their "Nation Once Again" trios are simply glorious glees.
With the benefit of a grand theme, this is perhaps the best, and best balanced, of all their programs.

Phil Coulter's "Lake of Shadows" is a collection of easy-listening Celtic-y piano pieces that are simply and beautifully evocative. Coulter relies on short repeated motifs that start simply and eventually expand as pipes, bass and synthetic instruments are added. To my ear, this is precisely the kind of slow reflective music that are common in soundtracks for misty dramas about Ireland. Coulte also throws in renditions of well-known musical themes, such as "For Those In Peril On The Sea" and "The Flight Of The Earls". Fans of "Enya" will find his style familiar (as perhaps Coulter fans found of Enya).
Sweet and very nice, but probably won't find a place on my iPod.

This is a brilliant live set, organized by Irish-American folklorist and historian Mick Moloney and recorded for public TV in a concert at the Irish Arts Center in New York City. Liz Carroll, Karan Casey, John Doyle, Seamus Egan, Joanie Madden and others join Moloney for a lively tour of various trad styles (from nimble reels and haunting ballads to comic ditties and chunky old-time bluegrass. It's great stuff. If you like Irish trad, you couldn't ask for a better concert than this! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue Guide To World Music)

At least according to an article on Wikipedia, Clannad disbanded in about 1997. However, they reunited at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow in February 2007. They expressed a desire to produce a new studio album, but nothing more has come so far. They also began touring again in March 2008. If this article is true, then let's hope they crank out another CD sometime soon. This would certainly explain the large number of compilations.

I bought this CD as a gift for someone who loves bagpipes and the person just loved it!
Even I liked it, and my favorite kind of music tends to metal type.
All songs are great specially the last one.
