No any doubt about Nancy's voice and technician, but i'm a little bit disapointed to this particulary cd. I think the arrangements by Christopher Marlowe are monotonous and the best tracks are those arranged by Jay Leonhart and Nancy itself: The Best is Yet to Come and I'm Glad There is You.

I heard Holly Cole for the first time on the local community radio station. I immediately called, got her name, and purchased the CD. The rest of the CD is as good as the song I heard. She's got it going on, but it's in a new way. Hip but classic at the same time. She's become a new favorite. Love it!

I have been a huge fan of Veloso for the past three years, mostly because of his Portuguese and Spanish masterpieces, but this time around he truly pulled it off with these interpretations. This English album is truly a work of art, and Veloso's sensationally melodic voice is soothing to the ears and the soul. His interpretations of "So in love", "Feelings," "Love For Sale," "The Man I Love," and my favorite, David Byrne's "(Nothing But) Flowers" have taken each melody to another level. Byrne is decidedly right when he plays Veloso's version in his concerts... there truly could be no greater compliment.

Sirens of Song: Classic Torch Singers has fifteen magnificent songs from some of the greatest songbirds of the entire twentieth century. The sound quality is excellent and I love that artwork!

The CD opens with Julie London singing one of her signature songs, "Cry me A River." I don't think anyone ever sang "Cry Me A River" any better than the great Julie London sang it; and just one listen should prove this to you. I really like ho Julie opens up during this song and lets her heartfelt passion spread out to her listeners--it's quite majestic. Sarah Vaughan also does "Black Coffee" with panache; Sarah could sing quite well and this tune was one of her best ever in my opinion. This is a very quirky belly dance music album which has some interesting tracks on it. I don't personally like them all but some are great.
