The sound on this is very anemic. The bass is almost non-existent. I've read this in other reviews but I had to see for myself since I love this album. It's true. Stick with the regular CD. Later Edit: I've decided it's not as bad as I first thought. What I said previously still applies but you won't be wasting your money on this.

I had heard this singer's voice in movies but never knew who she was?? Now I do, and I really enjoy hearing her music especially in English. Now I will be able to know what she is singing about even if I hear her songs sung in French!
Release Date October 25, 1990
Michael Feinstein is a Romantic's Romantic! He's able to capture gut level emotion with his words, voice and piano. His song 'My Favorite Year' is one that will bring an Old Flame right back from the dead and have it blazing before your eyes once more! He's gentle yet powerful and there is a humble quality about his presentation that makes you just want to embrace him. Very easy to listen to, yet provocative.

Better this were titled "Peggy Lee's Biggest Sellers for Capitol." It represents none of her activity for Decca, when she established herself as a class jazz act in the '50s, it omits some of her best things for Capitol, pre- and post-Decca (including "The Shining Sea"), and it passes over her career 1971-1991. If I had to go with just one, it would be the British import, "The Best of Peggy Lee." And if her creative accomplishments mean as much to you as her "hits," the "Best of the Decca Years" is more satisfying.

What can be said? A fantastic score that provides excellent, cohesive ambiance out of context and filling a room. Very pleasing. Fans might enjoy Paris Combo, Pink Martini, Squirrel Nut Zippers, other pop hits by "M", etc. - k

R.W. does not even have a decent voice because it is sooo nasal. The only positive momentum that this atrocity should generate is to stir the interest up for the legendary Garland and help give Jim Bailey a career boost as he is the only one that can come close to recreating her magic. You could not pay someone to listen to this without getting sick or tired or bored at a minimum.

I think Frank's half-dozen or so "broken heart" LP's represent his highest quality work, and this one ranks just a hair below "In the Wee Small Hours" and "Only the Lonely." Of course, as a fan, I also like his six best "hat" albums, those bright and swinging affairs. But the subtle selling of these lovelorn lyrics, recordings in which his silences and his breathing are as vital to success as his enunciation of each word, is something to behold. I keep it one star below the two more famous efforts mentioned earlier because those songs, overall, seem more powerful to me. For all his personal (and personality) troubles, Sinatra is THE American singer of the 20th century. Here, a man with an inadequate formal education, a dysfunctional family of origin, and a low amount ... Read More:

Truly, Diana Krall cannot be compared with any other Jazz vocalist, past or present. And as a huge fan of Ella, Sarah, and Mel Torme - three of the best singers ever to hold a microphone - I must admit that Diana Krall doesn't even come close. Yet, she holds her own by subtly and beautifully carving out a niche for herself in the genre and subtly redefining Jazz as we know it. The difference? Her vocals. It's the phrasing, the honesty, the raw emotion that pours from every song. There's no scatting, no wild improvisations, just vocal purity and the ability to capture the lyrical meaning of a song and effortlessly express a myriad of sentiments. Just listen to the tracks LOST MIND and I MISS YOU SO. Can't we all relate? Perfectly delivered...Diana doesn't just "sing" ... Read More:
