Once again I feel compelled to comment on Emmylou's music. When I first saw this disk I read various reviews here whining that this album is a "downer" and the like. I smiled to myself and bought it without a second thought. I would have bought it no matter what the reviews said. Yes, Emmylou sings about pain, but she also sings about redemption and perseverance, the dawn that follows the darkness. Anyway, what price do you put on music that brings tears to your eyes?

I had never heard of Duffy until a couple of days ago when I heard Stepping Stone whilst listening to Radio 2 online here in the USA. Yes I know I am a dinasour! I fell in love with her voice and immediately purchased Rockferry. I am not wise enough to enter into an educated criticism of the CD or make comparisons with other singers. Enough to say this is a beautiful CD. Duffy has an amazing voice and the songs are beautifully arranged, I love the soaring string sections. Duffy is from Neffyn in North Wales a place I know well. What a contrast her life will show from there!

Nobody sings or plays the blues by B.B. King. My favorite track is "I Get So Weary". I love the fantastic piano playing by Dr. John here. B.B.'s vocals are excellent here. Dr. John accompanies B.B. so well on the track "Tomorrow Night" too. "See That My Grave is Kept Clean" is the other highlight here. It is a song with a good beat. This is an unique and funny title for a song too. "Waiting On Your Call" is a nice cut. The trombone playing by Ira Nepus gives this track a sensual quality that I like. B.B. shines on the track "Midnight Blues". He plays the electric guitar masterfully. The slow bluesy tempo of "Backwater Blues" sounds like a tribute to the city of New Orleans "My Love Is Down" is a song in which B.B. sings about a love gone wrong. ... Read More:

What a great move for Little Feat. This worked perfect for Santana. Bring in a bunch of modernly popular singers and just play some music. My personal Fav. is the tune with Dave Matthews. This will be one on my Itunes my played.

If you're hemming and hawing, just go ahead and buy the CD -- it's as good if not better than everything else out there, so you won't be disappointed.

I'll be honest, I would have purchase this album regardless. However, the more I listen to it, the more I'm enjoying what our boys have given us. The music is great -- even though I know there is no way some of these songs are getting on "urban" radio stations, shoot the ones here in DC wouldn't play Amy Winehouse until she did the remake with Jay Z (but that's another dragon to slay).

This CD is the perfect road trip, workout, cleaning soundtrack for anyone. Something you don't necessarily have to pay close attention to, but will make you smile, sing/hum along and help bring pass the hours. ... Read More:
