I was lucky enough to see the show on Broadway back in 1999 and had a great time enjoying the music I had grown up with once again. This is a high energy musical review of two of our most prolific American song writing teams. There music has spanned several generations and been recorded by some of the greats: from Big Mama Thornton to Elvis, to Ben E King.
If your looking for a truly fun few hours of entertainment, This is an ideal pick.

This is the best of the series in my opinion. The Tom Petty original that opens the CD is worth the cost of the CD alone. It is the single best rock and roll Christmas song ever written. Ann and Nancy Wilson deliver a great version of Blue Christmas and the Randy Travis Jingle Bell Rock is the best version I have heard. Bon Jovi rocks, Luther adds a bit of great jazz and although I am not typically a fan of hers -- Sinead O'Conner delivers a beautiful version of "I believe in you". There are a few duds, including Run DMC and Michael Bolton, but the bulk of the CD has very strong performances making this a classic Christmas CD in my home.

A Christmas Gift for You might be Phil Spector's greatest work, and is probably the best and most influential ensemble Christmas album ever made. I myself first heard of A Christmas Gift for You as part of the publicity campaign for the Very Special Christmas series that began in 1987, the first of which included U2's cover of Darlene Love's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). U2's version of Christmas, along with Bruce Springsteen's Santa Clause Is Coming to Town and Dean Martin's Marshmallow World, are for my money the only versions of these songs to rival Spector's. i own just about every rhino series that has ever been available. the " have a nice day series really sets its self apart from other collections. these are the songs most of us remember growing up listening to in 70's. while for the most part you will not find most of these songs anywhere else. they were a big part of am radio back in it's heyday! rhino did a super job of remastering these tunes. the latter part of the series does start to run out of gas. anybody growing up back then will not be disapp- ointed.

I don't appreciate the patronizating tone of the liner notes and I'm taken aback by reviewers who use words like syrupy to explain away the colorful diversity of 70s AM radio. I don't buy that for music to be cool it has to be loud rock and can't be soft ear candy. That's FM audio cop out conditioning by pop critics who think only bad is good and hard sounds are hip. Not so unless one has narrow minded taste in pop music.

This series is notorious for being inconsistent. And then some. Too many volumes are filled with trivial, frivolous filler. Yet here Torn Between Two Lovers, Don't Give Up On Us, The Things We Do For love and Gonna Fly Fly Now are 4 major hits that make it worthy. This CD is one of the best CDs I own. Because I'm a Rocky Fan, and my favorite movie is Rocky IV, I purchased this CD a couple of years ago. I first heard songs from this CD(especially "Eye of the Tiger") when I was participating in track and field. Songs from this CD inspired all of the guys and me, and everyone worked hard. That's when I became a Rocky Fan!
Most of the songs are from the movie Rocky IV and a few others are remakes of Bill Conti's "Gonna Fly Now" song by the Rocky Orchestra.
In the CD Album "Rocky IV", there's those love songs that don't make sense and have nothing to do with the plot of the movie. All of the songs on the "The Rocky Story" can pump you up. Since all of the Rocky IV songs on this CD are pop-rock music, it's convenient that the song ... Read More:

Super Hits of the '70s: Have a Nice Day, Vol. 3 is a solid installment in this series of CDs with music from the `70s; we get some good tunes and the quality of the sound is excellent.

"Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" by Melanie starts the album with a rock and gospel flavored tune; the tune rocks and the gospel style choir harmonizes to perfection. I like this number a lot. "Tighter, Tighter" by Alive & Kicking brings back a lot of fond memories; they sing this tune with some great percussion, and guitar. Moreover, listen for a very funky and thoroughly enjoyable "In The Summertime" by Mungo Jerry. I really enjoy "In The Summertime" by Mungo Jerry as they perform this timeless number about how a man's mind turns to women in the summertime.
