Super Hits of the '70s: Have a Nice Day, Vol. 8 has twelve tracks to help bring back the good memories of those years gone by. The quality of the sound is excellent.
Jo Jo Gunne's "Run Run Run" has a funky rock flavor to it with some incredible guitar playing--love it! The Addrisi Brothers' "We've Got To Get It On Again" is a tune that doesn't ring a bell with me although it's a rather good song. The musical arrangement is very good.
Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show perform an anemic "Sylvia's Mother;" although they harmonize well and the musical arrangement is solid I just don't quite care for the song anyway. It's tough to put it into words; but "Sylvia's Mother" is just one of those middling songs that never quite ... Read More:

..except for a small number weak tunes and the odd 'short blips' between full songs, this is a wonderful CD. Favorite tracks include a very hip 'Corcodova' by Everything but the Girl and a wonderful duet by George Michael and legendary girl-from-Ipanema, Astrud Gilberto. Maxwell, the David Byrne/Marisa Monte duet, Cesaria Evoria and Caetano Veloso are also outstanding. I taped the video of this album when it first came available in various PBS channels on VHS. Unfortunately the quality is poor especially on HDTVs so I wish MTV through it's original producer, subsidiary MTV Brasil would someday make a DVD available.

The good thing about any of the Celtic Christmas CDs is that they don't feature any traditional, commercialized Christmas Carols. Therefore, you can play them as soon as Fall comes around and continue until the last snow melts.

ok, some love this and other hate it. fair enough. i personally quite liked the don henley version of 'everybody knows'. bono on 'halelujah' sounded as if his trousers were hitched up too high and too tight. and willie nelson's 'bird on a wire' could have been a nashille chestnut like 'she'll have to go'.
cohen can write. at least there doesnt seem to be any doubt about that. and perhaps he does have an honest voice. maybe robert frost had an honest voice too. never heard him sing.

This series has songs that are unavailable on almost all other collections. If you want some of the great "one-hit wonders" from the 1970's, then this is the place to go!

The songs on this disc are often heard at sporting venues. The one thing that has bothered me about this series are the cheesy transitions from one song to the next. Crowds cheering, etc. does nothing to enhance my listening enjoyment. In fact, it detracts from it some because I want to her clean intros to the songs. Other than that, this disc is great! The songs cover a wide range of eras and relate well to a variety of sports.

A lot of good music protesting the Vietnam War. I was over there ( 4 tours) when I first heard this album. I liked it then and I still like it today.

"West Side Story" is a classic musical, and what can people do to the music and still show the songs the way they were? With this CD.
The album opens up with a nice version of "Something's Coming" by All 4 One. They were one of the groups that the more recent *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys had taken influence from. Selena's version of "A Boy Like That" is a great track. She is known for singing from the heart. Michael McDonald, James Ingram, and David Pack sing "Maria," one of the most beautiful songs ever. After that is Brian Setzer doing the prologue music and the famous "Jet Song" keeping it almost exactly to the original, but with guitar playing. Kenny Loggins and Wynona, afterwards, do a good rendition of "Tonight," which is followed by "Cool" performed ... Read More:

I really love this CD I needed to hear the 60s bossa nova music for my ballroom dance routine. It has the classic girl from ipanema as well as a really cool 60s version of Mas Que Nada. It has some really cute intermission segments in between tracks too. Very nice music for dinner party or if you need the original Bossa Nova.
