We first heard this at a small shop in Ireland, where they sold us their only cd, the one that was playing. Different voices, haunting lyrics. If Summerfly doesn't evoke memories, your life has been good!

by: Rosemary Clooney

Release Date July 18, 2000
Sixteen (16) Biggest Hits is a very strong Rosemary Clooney CD that showcases Rosemary in excellent form during the 1950s. Each track has excellent sound quality and the artwork is very well done.

"The Ole House" starts the album with Rosemary singing better than ever; and her excellent timing and diction bolsters her performance. The backup vocals help the song along but make no mistake about it--this is Rosemary's number, not anyone else's! The musical accompaniment makes good use of the guitar and percussion. "Tenderly" features Rosemary singing a much slower, romantic tune that she makes timeless with her sublime interpretation of this ballad. The strings enhance the beauty of "Tenderly" and I really like "Tenderly" a lot. ... Read More:

Love hearing these songs, most in a different style from the hits. The artists are very good. Two criticisms: First, a few have very abrupt cuts at the end, as if part of the song is dropped. Second, the title song is not on the album even through the insert says that it is on disc 2.

I had been looking for one particular instrumental for many years and was unable to remember what it was called until I got on Amazon and was able to listen to clips of songs on this CD. I was so excited to had finally found it on this CD. This entire CD has so many great tunes that have been long lost over the years. I play it every single day, guess I should have bought 2. But all kidding aside if you enjoyed the great instrumentals back in the 60's and your not sure if you really remember them, go to this site to hear bits of each song and I am sure it will bring back many memories. It has for me!

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1965

Release Date September 12, 1989
Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1965 is a solid installment in this budget priced series of great rock and roll hits--this time from the year 1965. The sound is great and I like the diversity of the artists on this album.

Shirley Ellis begins the CD with her bouncy and upbeat sounding tune called "The Name Game." While this isn't exactly my very favorite song from this era; the song has its good points. I love the beat and the rhythm; and Shirley sings this with such positive enthusiasm you truly believe she loves every minute that she sings this song. The electric guitars and drums sound very good, too.

The Toys do "A Lover's Concerto" to perfection; this beautiful ballad is one of my favorites by far! The piano, brass ... Read More:

More than 30 years after Stax-Volt last published, at last I have my hands on all three volumes of 'The Complete...'. The individual volumes have some great music, not all of which found its way around the world. Hearing great music for the first time long after the label's demise is a mixture of elation tinged with regret. Yet the breadth of the three volumes is astonishing and encompasses a range of talent, unique yet all related through the label (of course) and mostly through the session/backing musicians. If you can, buy all three volumes of this amazing collection and then turn the music up. And see how quickly your smile turns to a broad and happy grin. Enjoy.

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1966

CD-Charts > Music > By Decade
by: Various Artists

Release Date October 25, 1990
Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1966 has ten great rock and roll hits that really rocked us back in 1966! I like the diversity of the artists on this album and the sound quality is also very good.

The Monkees kick it off right with "I'm A Believer." This sounds a bit like pop in retrospective but it does rock rather well. The Monkees sings this so well and the melody is very catchy--love that percussion! The Lovin' Spoonful continues with "Summer In The City;" this gritty rock tune always worked well and it still sounds very good today, I like the musical arrangement with the drums and percussion; and they sing this great. I really like "Summer In The City."

Tommy James And The Shondells sing a seductive, romantic little number called ... Read More:

Super Hits Of The '70s: Have a Nice Day, Vol. 16

by: Various Artists

Release Date April 06, 1993
Super Hits Of The '70s: Have a Nice Day, Volume 16 gives us more great `70s hits in this 25 CD series. I like the quality of the sound and the diversity of artists makes it an interesting album to hold onto for some while to come. Some of these can be hard to find on CD elsewhere so this is a good `70s hit music album.

The track set has several songs that appeal to me very much. Blues Image performs their rock ballad "Ride Captain Ride;" the very subtle country twist enhances the melody. Blues Image harmonizes the chorus really well, too.

The Assembled Multitude does a great job with their interpretation of the overture to the rock opera Tommy; and listen for Ten Years After doing a somewhat psychedelic rock styled ballad entitled "I'd Love ... Read More:
