Karen's voice and her brothers genius make this one solid Gold. My kids say don't bother him now, he's listening to the Karen LOL. This is a total collection of all the hits and some obscure beauties. Be hard pressed to find anyone who can sing this well. Karen had range, tone, emotion and a sense of fun and beauty that may forever be one of a kind. The only bad thing about this collection is its all you will ever need,40 songs. I might have been better off buying all the original albums. When I look at one now I say oh well I already have the 3-4 best songs. Since the Carpenters have been gone a long time I'll recommend some great female vocalists; Margo Timmins (cowboy junkies), Alison Krauss, Ruthie Foster and of course Mary Chapin Carpenter ... As a PHANATIC, this double box set is a must-have. I must say that the box is cute, it has the complete libretto (with ALL dialogues)... all inside a little cute box.

I used to have a 80' double K7 set, given by my aunt when she saw the Phantom for the first time back in 90'. The main difference is that those K7 had the COMPLETE DIALOGUES, with NO cuts. And these CDs do not have little dialogues... but it still worths buying.

While Rodgers and Hammerstein and Andrew Loyd Webber are booming on Broadway, some interesting new voices are being heard and Stew is among the best. The style is contemporary and should be heard by everyone, but unfortunately the show had to clsoe because business is business and not enough people showed up to support it. Their loss, but you can get a feel for this exuberant score from the excellent cast recording.

My husband I recently bought tickets for his concert at Madison Square Garden, and I was eager to get in the "Neil Diamond mood," so I decided on this 2 cd set (we have Hot August Night on cd, and the rest on old cassette tapes, but I really wanted original recordings). I have loved his music for a long time, and this 2 cd set was an absolutely perfect collection for me. All of his well-known popular songs are the original recordings, and my 7 year old daughter is now singing along in the car. Couldn't have asked for a better Neil Diamond collection!!

John's vocals are not overpowering, as this is not his style. Yet, they are straight forward and at times vibrant, compelling, and original. This CD represents John at his very best and most original.
The arrangements are tasteful and the musicians terrific, as they allow
the beauty of known and less known Richard Rodgers songs to shine throughout the recording. A joyful experience....go out and buy it!
