Tremendous disc. Diana's voice is great, the mike is close with a fantastic breathy texture to her voice. Fantastic backing group with a swing/bluesy feel - rhythmic. I think her 'Temptation' is the best version I've ever heard of this track. More please!

I have been a fan of Anne Murray for years, both listening to her recordings and seeing her in concert several times. The song selection on this CD is very good. The production is one the worst I have ever heard on a CD. The sound fades in and out. At the times when the sound isn't fading the production is simply bad. I listened to the CD one time and don't think I can bear listening to it again. The sound isn't that bad on the Amazon previews therefore, I didn't expect this at all. I was considering the purchase of another of Anne's recent CDs but now I am wary and may not do so.

I expected to love this album. I love Coltrane. But it's just not gelling. For whatever reason, the album comes across as a jam-session, and not a serious musical production. The balance is uneven and the sound is muted and cloudy. The majority of the album carries no understandable theme or idea. I know it's jazz, and it's supposed to be loose, but this is just frustrating!

Honestly, my favorite part of the album was Tyner's piano playing. He's a genius! I'll be looking into more of him.

Columbia Hits Collection gives is so many of Jo Stafford's wonderful hit songs from her recording years at Columbia Records. Jo's voice is in excellent form throughout this album; and the sound quality is really rather good. The artwork is tastefully done as well.

The CD starts with Jo Stafford singing her heart out on the classic love song "You Belong To Me." The percussion enhances the natural beauty of this number and Jo never misses a beat! "Keep It A Secret" also works very well; Jo Stafford sings this very well and I can even detect her ability to belt out a tune like few others ever could! This is very impressive. I first bought Moulin Rouge 2 soundtrack because I wanted the songs from the movie w/ the actual singers. But there's little of that on this soundtrack. It's a good compliment to the first soundtrack, but my collection still feels very short. Even with both CDs, I am still missing the *original* versions of the songs, sung by the actors, as they are sung IN the movie. The ones sung by the actors are remixed for the soundtracks, and most of them are not sung by the actors. There are a couple of instrumentals on this CD as well, which personally I don't care for. I bought the CD because I wanted to hear Ewan and Nicole sing, not a bunch of instruments!

Aside from a couple "best of" compilations, I never really cared much for Sinatra. I preferred Dean Martin and thought that even Sinatra's hits were OK at best. Then I heard this album, and now I understand why people went crazy for this man. I listened to this on my drive to work, and the sadness stuck with me for the remainder of my shift. This is a masterpiece which should be heard by all music fans, and it does a great job of getting you to want to hear more of what Sinatra has to offer. His singing on this album is perfect, delivering the melancholy in such an effective manner that you want to put your arm around the guy and tell him that everything's gonna turn out alright. Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1

I've been listening to this CD since it was released. I may not play it for years but once it lands in my CD player, it stays there for a long time. Once it gets under your skin you'll hear it in your head all the time. A real grower, you need to listen to it and let it grow on you.

I think the poor initial reaction to Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 was that the first song, "Praying For Time" was plodding upon first listen. Unlike the song "Faith" which invites you in with the Hammond B-3 Church like chords, "Praying for Time" sort of stands at the door, and you have to walk past it to get to "Freedom 90."

Once in the door, expect Beatlesque melodies (Heal the Pain sounds like a Rubber Soul outtake), impeccable ballads (Mother's Pride)and ... Read More:
