After vocalist Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden, and in 1994 Blaze Bailey was the chosen one to replace him.Bruce sang in higher key while Blaze was singing low-key,to many people Bailey wasn'the right choice for the band.It might be true but the band had a chance to do things they never could do with Di'Anno and Dickinson, experiment and sound different.Of course many Maiden fans just bash "X Factor" and "Virtual XI" rather than giving it any chance.Bailey was perhaps too much of a change of vocalist for fans to handle. It doesn't sound like classic Maiden for sure,it sounds like a different band, different but good, they have a totally different style and energy.
For Virtual XI(1998)the band went towards a less epic style than "The ... Read More:

Ok I love Deep Purple if you're talking about classic Purple 60s, 70s and 80s but this is just embarrasing. I went out and bought this hearing all the great reviews about it. People ranked it with classics such as Machine Head so I caved in and bought it. Once I opened the package I saw the band members names and the only original member left was Ian Paice. I didn't realize that John Lord had left. But I played the cd anyway. I have listened to it and the songs are just cheesy and bland and not very Purpleish. I mean if Blackmore was still in the band there is no way he would have let them call an album Bananas but this album sounds exactly like Bananas. The lyrics are bad and the music is terrible. I won't even bother to go by a track by track review ... Read More:

a good hard-rocking album that's firmly plays Saxon as a leader in the new wave of British heavy metal, but you will be much happier getting the remastered copy of Saxon's Strong Arm of the Law,from the same year

i'm a motorhead fan but i'm not overly impressed with this debut album. to me the sound isn't that great and lemmy is just starting to work on his growl. my favorite motorhead album is hammered but i discovered the bands years ago with ace of spades. there are a few good songs...iron horse being my favorite off this album...but i find the entire album to be lacking.

This rhino set is actually a very good represention of metal from the last 40 years or so.It includes songs by Blue Cheer,Alice Cooper, UFO,Judas Priest,Angel Witch,Girlschool,Iron Maiden,Motorhead,Venom, Raven,Mercyful Fate,Metallica,Accept,Slayer,Metal Church,Prong, and Sepultura.Which is a huge span of metal,on the bad side it includeds to much Glam and non metal acts(Ted Nugent,Living Colour ,Kiss,Stryper, and Skid Row).If this were cut down to three disks and other bands such as Bathory ,Candlemass and Death were added to make a fourth disk, you would have a great metal set. Some stuff which is needed such as Early Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin isn't in here because of copywrite ownership issues. The 77 page book is great with alot of pictures ,a story about each song and small articules on ... Ozzy Osbourne's second solo album Diary of a Madman was released in November of 1981.
When Ozzy Osbourne released his first album after his Black Sabbath ouster called Blizzard Of Ozz (which included a stellar band including bass player Bob Daisley, drummer Lee Kerslake and the late great guitarist Randy Rhoads), he proved he could survive without Sabbath with great success.
In early 1981, Ozzy (plus Rhoads, Kerslake and Daisley) re-entered the recording studio to record his second solo album and pressure was on to deliver an album that was either as good as his debut or better. Would Ozzy and company deliver or would they be written off. Read ahead and find out (as I did when I first acquired the cassette in March of 1984 on recommendation after liking Bark at the Moon so much as a just ... Read More:

I have been a UFO fan for a long time, and this is one of their best albums. It is a good example of the hard rock style, the earlier stuff is more psychadelic in nature.

Beware of DOWNLOADING Track 1 "Tailgunner" it is actually Track 2 "Holy Smoke". If you don't believe me listen to the preview for both Tracks 1 & 2 they are exactly the same. They both play the preview for "Holy Smoke". I have notified CDNOW over a week ago and they still haven't fixed the problem.
This review has nothing to do with the music it is only meant to warn people not to download Track 1. You will only be disappointed.
