The mothership is as grand as its' title. Amazing packaging, has a colorful booklet that let's a fan into the world of Led Zeppelin, and all the vinyls sound epic. Each song in the collection is a classic for both the average fan and a true fan.

This is a fantastic album. It's a bit on the dumb side, sure - the lyrics are unintentionally hilarious, from the famous middle-school sci-fi scribblings of "Iron Man" (which is still an absolute classic) to the drug anthem "Fairies Wear Boots" ("'Cause smokin' and trippin' is all you do... yeah!" to the "Kashmir"-esque meanderings of "Planet Caravan" to the first line of the whole album, coming from the deservedly famous "War Pigs" - "Generals gathered in their masses... just like witches in their black masses."
However, you don't listen to Black Sabbath for the lyrics. Besides, the lyrics add a certain... well, I wouldn't say "charm," because Black Sabbath's about as charming as a battle-axe. But they add something. Nah, you listen to Sabbath for ... Read More:

Queen have had countless compilations released over the years. We have tons of releases called 'Greatest Hits.' There's a mediocre U.S. version, than there's a great import release. Of course, there is a 'Greatest Hits II,' focusing on the 1981-1991 material. And finally, there is even a 'Greatest Hits III' released (I strongly recommend you avoid that release at all costs).
So, in the early 2000s, Hollywood Records decided to release yet another Queen 'Greatest Hits' album. But this one is far different from the standard 'Greatest Hits' release.
There is nothing from the 1981-1991 period. That means, no 'Radio Ga Ga,' 'I'm Going Slightly Mad,' 'A Kind Of Magic,' 'Who Wants To Live Forever' or 'Hammer To Fall.' That's a letdown. Now, ... Read More:

A very powerful album with a classical/progressive sound. Judas Priest are successful at creating well balanced and imaginative concept album. I have been playing this exclusively since buying it ,it just keeps getting better every time I listen to it. A great gift to Priest Fans, they have done nothing like this before. A full 5 stars on this one!.

Some bands have far too many "deep cuts" that never get airply to ever be fully represented by just a "best of" collection. Queen, The Beatles, etc. etc. The "hits" are almost a watered down version of what those great bands could really do, so a "Greatest Hits" collection just doesn't cut it for them.
Not so with Deep Purple. While they did many fine songs not on this cd, the BEST of what they did from 1968-1984 is mostly here, and what a collection it is. Easily two of the best songs from the early Rod Evans days are "Hush" and "Kentucky Woman," and they are present and accounted for. "Hush" is probably the better known song, but I've always preferred "Kentucky Woman." The two best known songs from the later David Coverdale era ("Burn" and "Stormbringer") ... Read More:

The light/heavy ideas of Led Zeppelin really come to fruition with the third where much has been written about its obvious folk leanings, certainly Page's twelve string guitar is a treat but these arrangements have the orchestrated detail of a symphony. This musical collage doesn't in any way impede the powerful sense of spontaneity, with Bonzo creating a jazz feel to keep his boogie backbeat loose (dig the extended coda to Out On the Tiles).
The single release for this album was the magnificent Immigrant Song, a Viking saga in miniature but Zep III also contains what may be considered their finest moment with Since I've Been Loving You; a monumental piece that provides big climaxes for stretching Plant's rambling vocals, to where he delivers all the feverish emotions ... One would be hard-pressed to argue that Led Zeppelin ever released a "bad" album. "Houses of the Holy" continues in that trend with a rock-solid track list that includes hits like "Over the Hills and Far Away" but also some of the lesser-heard songs like "D'yer Mak'er" that aren't as famous but are no less listenable. This CD is a good pickup for the casual fan, as it has some of the big hits not found on their first greatest hits album "Early Days."

While I love to brag that I discovered Def Leppard before the "Masses" did after Pyromania literally exploded on the scene, it truly doesn't matter when you discover them--only that you do. While 'High 'N Dry' remains (probably) my all-time favorite Leppard release, there is SO much to love about Pyromania that I hardly know where to begin...
To a large extent, 'Photograph' was the song that most people remember hearing first by these underrated English Metal Masters. Sure, it was an enormously HUGE hit, but remains one of my least favorite songs from their repetoire. The song from Pyromania that just *Did It* for me, was probably 'Rock, Rock 'Til you Drop'. It had ALL the ingredients of what (in 1983) I was looking for in a Pop Metal sound. From there I became enthralled with ... Read More:
