This is a different album from their second one, with a sound that's slower, with more ballads than Under the Iron Sea.
Since I haven't paid exact attention to some tracks, I'll do a "key lyrics" type review - with my favorites on the album, which are quite a few.
Somewhere Only We Know - the single. This song is midtempo, but has emotional lyrics which can make an effect on you later in life. Great for those who like to "escape the world" and stay in a little hideout that "only you know".
Key lyric: "I walked across, a fallen tree, I felt the branches are they looking at me? Is this the place, we used to love, is this the place that we've been dreaming of?"
This is the Last Time - I didn't like ... Read More:

I like this soundtrack, loved the movie and the music in the background. My favorite is track 5 which features Lisa Gerrard's voice.

This is the best album cover ever in rock and roll history as far as I'm concerned, the music inside is just gravy. Nothing could top OK Computer, so Radiohead didn't even try - they very wisely went in a completely different direction into almost another genre altogether. OK Computer is basically a straight up rock record but Kid A is pretty much electronic music. The first song, "Everything in it's Right Place" is one of the best in Radiohead's live set - it sounds much better live is what I'm trying to say - but the studio version is still very captivating, especially with good speakers. "How To Disappear Completely" almost matches the intensity of "Exit Music" from the previous record. I think the peak of the record is "In Limbo", maybe ... Read More:

This is the Best MUSE's album to me. I started to like MUSE when I first listened to "Space Dementia". I recomend this album to everybody who likes good music.

Only a few bands are as love/hate dividing as Sex Pistols. But more than 30 years later they are still discussed and listened to, so yeah, never mind the bollocks!
Yes, they came out of a mayor record label (today they are released by Virgin) and were intended to be commercial probably. But punk ain't that far removed from pop as some like to think. Ramones aimed at creating good, simple melodies without the phony pretensions that plagued music of the 70's, and Sex Pistols is just about the same.
There is hardly any politics in the album, which means it kinda stands the time easier. And today the tracks still packs an undeniable energy and a soul that is with no doubt purely British. This IS great rock.

Keane is a favorite band of mine, so this review is going to be totally and unabashedly biased. (As if my other reviews aren't.) If you're trying to get a feel for what Keane is like, maybe this can help: They're a little bit of Coldplay, a little bit of U2, and a whole lotta original.
Their sound is just...completely innovative, and yet classic. If you're looking for shallow, fluffy lyrics, please go elsewhere. Every song has a purpose on the album--and a deep, sometimes dark, meaning--and not one of them disappoints. I highly recommend, and urge anyone who loves good music to discover this band for themselves. Just when you think Keane can't get any better, they do. As long as they don't muck it up for themselves by breaking up or anything of that ... Read More:

I think everything has been said already in the previous reviews so there's not much - or rather nothing - I can add.
All I wanted to say is that this is a very special record for me. I listen to a lot of music and own several hundred CDs but this one is really outstanding. I think that this record is really emotional but in a pleasent kind of way. A lot of songs on the album bring tears to my eyes everytime I hear them. The whole project was a great idea and one can feel that the participators put all their heart and love into it.
In short: Mermaid Avenue is one of the records that makes live worth living for me.
I'm a fan of Wilco but I love this one better than any of their studio-albums.

Elvis Costello is Evil himself.
*He stole the name from the the Good Elvis
*He can't sing.
*He has not composed one good song.
*He snatched Diana Krall.
*He has totally ruined and vandalised others' good songs:
-"Good year for the roses" by George Jones
-"On your way down" by Little Feat/Allen Toussaint
-"London Calling" by the Clash.

I love this album. A friend actually bought it and shared it with me. I absolutely love 'Polyethylene' both parts, it's the perfect song to turn up really loud and rock out to. 'Palo Alto' is awesome. And 'A Reminder' is just a great mello song. This album is fantastic and a must for any Radiohead lover.
