One of the most beautiful cd's of all time(originally an LP). This album is gorgeous, romantic, and bailable. If you like Brasilian jazz, this is the best, and Byrd is the most skillful bossa nova guitarist. Also Byrd is responisble for bringing the Bossa Nova sound to the USA and turning into jazz con Stan Getz. A great album for the jazz fan who already owns Jazz Samba and wants to discover more great jazz bossa nova.

This is one ddball series - the first in the series was just okay but after that, they seem to realize - there are about another thousand great samba tracks - maybe we ought to go with some the better ones so for #4 add another star! Not much to say more about the sexiest music on the planet and transport you to the beaches of Brazil - all great!

Born in Brazil but based in New York, where with Arto Lindsay he spearheaded a bossa nova revival, Vinicius Cantuaria is one of bossa's more interesting exponents.
He started in the 1990's adding an electronic flavour that he had learnt from New York friends such as Laurie Anderson and David Byrne, creating one of the most impressive jazzy/world/avant-garde oeuvres around.
That is still part of his sound, but it is his simpler songs that hit hardest: particularly when he strips the music right back to the 1950's on the beautiful "Voce E Eu" (featuring Mehldau) and "Tua Cara", or displays African influences on "O Batuque".

Antonio Carlos Jobim's work is so fun and upbeat and relaxing all at once. It's the sort of music you want to sit and drink coffee to on a warm summer day. Fantastic.

In one song, you can tell that he and the woman he's singing with are trying not to laugh. What wonderful music that allows even the performers to have a good time.

Definitely a good buy for someone with an appreciation for good music.

I used to lay in bed and sweat, thinking, another day had gone by and I still hadn't found or purchased a CD of Herbie Mann & Joao Gilberto With Antonio Carlos Jobim.

It was in the stores for a short time and I let it slip through my fingers, and then, along came Amazon to the rescue.

The CD was delivered to my doorstep, I can hold it in my hand, I can catch up on my sleep!

Darn, Vinyl.

I was worried I was never going to hear the tracks without scratches or pops in the background.

Amazon put an end to that.

I once heard, a number of recordings by Gilberto and Jobim became so popular in Brazil, they were sung at half time during soccer games like they were National Anthems.
