I was on a soundtrack kick for awhile which emerged cause I was looking for some EG Daily music, well I came across this soundtrack really cheap and though there's no EG there's plenty of interesting songs and stories to keep me listening.
A complete 80s creation, Streets Of Fire is dubbed a rock & roll fable and though I remember seeing it as a child I can't recall much of it, but luckily it's sitting on my TV thanx to Netflix and I'll let you know how that goes - as for the songs the two main gems here come from Jim Steinman - the man behind "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell series to name but a few - I love Jim's take on theatrics; everything's a rushing flame of passion and intensity - the two ... There is a huge amount of Muddy Waters-compilations out there, and while MCA/Chess's two-disc, 50-track "Anthology 1947-1972" is certainly more definitive than this Geffen compilation, it does offer a very good overview of Muddy Waters' career.
Opening with the classic 1948 single "I Can't Be Satisfied", this CD takes you through (most of) the highlights from the 1950s and 60s. "Hoochie Coochie Man", "I'm Ready", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", "Mannish Boy", and "Got My Mojo Working" are here, of course, and in the original versions, too, but it's a shame that some slightly lesser known (but equally fine) singles like "I Love The Life I Live, I Live The Life I Love", "She's Nineteen Years Old" and "I Want To Be Loved" are missing. ... I bought this CD because of Ry Cooder. I've loved his music since first hearing on the soundtrack for "Paris Texas." I'm also very much into indigenous and ethnic music and am happy to have discovered Ali Farka Toure in this CD. Sometimes slow, sensual, hypnotic, and bluesy like the songs Amandria (my favorite) and Ai Du, and sometimes more rhythmic with a strong beat that you want to get up and dance to, the music on this CD grabs you every which way. Ali Farka Toure's rich voice also adds another dimension to the quality of this CD, on top of the music itself. And every song is top notch. It's rare for me to like every song on a CD, but I love every song. It doesn't disappoint on any level.

I usually have to go on line to locate this CD, but it's a must have. This is my 3rd time purchasing it. This CD really touches the heart when you need it most.

This is the first KWS CD that I have purchased and it was promoted by listening to Blue on Black on a streaming electric blues audio station. I was hoping the rest of the CD was going to be good electric blues rock and I was not dissapointed. I thought the entire CD was darn good!

I am a fan of Ben Harpers. Have been since the '90's. I love his vision of music. His soulful vocals. The lyrics of this cd and the energy that went into it, make it my favorite all time of his albums. I even own his newer ones, they still do not compare. This is where it all started....

It should be said that Sonny Landreth is blindingly fast on guitar. Yet, after trying to like this album for more than a week, I just do not. And the reason is that my ears detect no soul at all in his playing. I am reminded of several other virtuoso guitarists (Walter Trout and Johnny Winter most specifically) who make an awful lot of noise, but very little listenable music. I am also missing entirely the Blues aspect of this recording. It's rock-and-roll. A little more attention to melody and continuity, and less fret-finger acrobatics, would help a lot.

I love love love Trey. He gets better and better. What I love about him most is that he sounds even better live. The CD is a MUST have. I love his flirtatious ways, his smooth vocals, his sexXxy style. I want him......sorry, but I do!
Release Date August 21, 2007
I thoroughly enjoyed this cd. Some have complained that Jimmy Vaughn's guitar playing wasn't up to par, but he sounds as he always does. He is not a jazz player. He plays it rough, bluesy, and always on the edge. Perfect for these songs. And the chance to hear the fabulous Lou Ann Barton, even in a background role, is worth the price. When will she be putting out a new cd?
